To answer the subject line's inquiry literally, a lot. A whole lot. A lot of a lot.
Anyway, I did, though I have no intentions of playing it just yet (busy with other games, including Twilight Princess). Why, you may ask? Because I wanted to show support for QUALITY VC releases, that's why! If people keep trying to find excuses not to download this (already have it in another format, don't have time to play it right now, and whatever else), it's possible, however unlikely, that the sales could be only marginally better than any other VC release, which could only serve to give Nintendo even LESS reason to give us the goods!
Yes, I acknowledge this as something of a paranoid viewpoint, but I'd still rather be safe than sorry, especially for only 1000 Wii Points.
My Backloggery Updated sporadically. Got my important online ID's on there, anyway. :P
second the comment about owning the Collector's Edition and not needing to rebuy....plus, this entry never grabbed me...I have nostalgia at play for OoT, but this one just didn't do it for me...most 3D zelda's in fact haven't done much if anything for me

It's one of those games that seem nice to have, but I'm not a huge Zelda fan.

Or great, consistent sales could keep them from releasing another great game. You wouldn't want Smash Bros. and Majora's Mask fighting atop the charts.
So they might very well release crap for the next several weeks to milk Majora's Mask as long as possible. And it's not like Nintendo isn't known for milking things. (Metroid Prime Trilogy? Oh come on. Why not just send an email saying "Screw YOU" to everyone that already bought Metroid Prime 3? Bad enough that compilation of prior games will likely be the big fall game.)
The topic is kinda redundant really. Better question would be how many DIDN'T buy it. So many people bought it here in Canada that in 2 days it's already surpassed Super Mario Bros and bumped it down to 3rd on the VC List!

Yeah, games quite often reach the top of the list in the first few days or so, but in the UK Majora kept SMB1 & 3 off the top for ages, I was quite surprised.
i never liked it honestly but i own it, so mabey i might give it another shot. seriously i LOVE every single zelda game except for this one. i didnt put much effort into it though. whats weird about zelda games is the fact that i dont need to put effort to like it .the first few minutes i play it, im hooked. Majoras mask didnt have that spark for me.

Sorry, I'd rather spend my money on games I want rather than games I don't want. How is "I already own it" an unacceptable excuse for not buying it again? If you want it to sell so bad, why don't you gift it to everyone you know instead of telling others to waste THEIR money?
Purchased it the day, in fact, the minute it was released on the VC and I havn't stopped playing it since. In fact, thats the only game I've been playing for the past week now due to the fact that I just never had the chance to beat this game back in the day because I believed it was too hard. I'll admit, finding the stray fairies can be hard sometimes, the temples can be a bit confusing and the direction of what your suppose to do next is limited by how much you are willing to explore, but the game is just fantastic, it complements Orcarina of Time perfectly in the way that it improves on the areas that OoT lacked, as did OoT for Majoras Mask. After I beat the game, which I am close to accomplishing thanks to hours of non-stop playing and trying to complete everything in the game, I will help my little bro complete OoT. Majoras Mask is a game that had a gripping atmosphere, nostolgic music, addictive gameplay, an interesting story and graphics that, for me at least, hold up well in this day and age, for the most part.
Let's put it this way: I have my Wii Shop channel open to Popular [VC] Titles, and Majora's Mask is number one. In front of SMB3, SMB, Punch-Out!!, SMW, and so on.
The real question is if it will stay there or not. Things which make it to the top of 'best seller' lists do tend to continue to benefit in sales as those who aren't in on the scene go 'oh wots that then'. But then, Majora's Mask is kinda far out there compared to Super Mario.
Wait is this Majoras Mask or MegaMan? I've bought Majoras Mask and a couple of MegaMan games
