My Wii and SSBB had an ongoing feud. In the end, SSBB won, and the Wii had to be sent in for repairs. Luckily it was still under warranty. :3 I also lost nothing in the repairs, so that was nice.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
tbh I've never had a console show any signs of problems, outside of a PS1 which wouldn't "grab" discs anymore, until this most recent Nintendo generation. My DSlite had virtually everything go wrong with it despite immaculate care (only played it at home--never traveled with it and always had it put away)--a dead pixel, top-right of touchscreen, that broken top-right hinge, the power randomly cutting to the unit when the A button is pressed at the wrong angle--you name it. Backlight bled through the corners of the bottom screen since purchase too. My DSi actually came with a dead pixel on the bottom screen (DS games cause this issue but not DSiware, leading me to believe it's an issue with the pins that touch the cart) that Nintendo is indifferent to.
Honestly I think it'd due to this new 3rd-party-warranty market the world decide to spawn (looking at you Best Buy). Everything falls apart now--"but it's ok because you could've spent more money up-front to gain the option of sending it back". I'm of the mind that I tend to pass when offered that option--why would I need it? I've owned every type of console since consoles have been around and had nary a problem....and I know my console-treatment etiquette hasn't changed.
In late 2008 Microsoft upgraded the boards that were frying all the time. The Red Ring of Death issue isn't as big of a problem nowadays.....or at least until your warranty expires. Paid $100 to fix my 360 last year.
My DSi last month; one week before Christmas. The system shut down when the top screen was barely moved. It was under warranty, and they said they would replace it. My same system came back 2 days before Christmas, fixed. I really wanted a new one.
My Gamecube. Twice. The laser failed once and the system stopped detecting memory cards/controllers not long after that. Had the screen fail on my PSP, but that just led me to replacing it with a DS after they said it couldn't be repaired.

Actually my Wii. Despite the low failure rates mine was one of the lucky few 6 months after i got it. It would freeze with certain games at first and make a high pitch buzzing noise. Then eventually all my games started to freeze and i couldn't play more than 5 minutes without it freezing on me. Sent it in to Nintendo and got a new one, but they never would tell me what was wrong with it.
My Wii's GPU overheated slowly over the course of a year. Picked it up in July 07 and started to see strange flickering pixels after about 8 months. Odd but not too bothersome at the time, but over the next couple months those pixels spread to the point that I could barely see what was going on. Out of warranty at that point too, so I had to pony up $80 to get it fixed. My own stupid fault for waiting that long, but whatever.
I've never had a problem with my 360 in the year and a half I've had it, knock on wood. Must be lucky I suppose.
My DSi froze when I played scribblenauts... maybe that will change [it never froze with other games]
Mine did also - twice. It's just the game. Also, one time I clicked the DSi sound "channel" and then the power button right after(I decided I didn't want to go) and it froze. It was annoying, because I had to wait for the battery to lose charge. I couldn't manually turn it off.

Well, I'm glad to know that it's just the game. I might consider returning it or just turning it in. It's not what I expected it to be at all.
Just let it happen.
