The Crash Bandicoot remake from the N'Sane Trilogy collection. Still a dreadful game with horrid camera angles and dodgy hit detection. We'll see is CB2 is sufficiently improved.
Last night, I beat Donkey Kong Land for the Game Boy. It's a fairly short game and it's not quite as good as its SNES counterpart, but it is a decent game nonetheless. While I have a lot of memories with the original Donkey Kong Country trilogy, I did not have too much exposure to the DKL games as a kid. So, the 3DS Virtual Console was when I really dove in. I got DKL1, 2, and 3 pretty much before the 3DS eShop closed down, so I have its sequels to look forward to.

Favorite game: Super Mario 3D World
AKA MarioVillager92. Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I want to get to know you first. Thanks! β€οΈ
Best 2D metroidvania I've ever played. If you own a Switch, and are any kind of Metroid fan, Ori fan, Castlevania fan, Prince of Persia fan, 2D platformer fan of challenging expert obstacles with precision mechanics (DKC Tropical Freeze, Rayman Legends, etc), you owe it to yourself to play this game.

Prince of Persia:The Lost Crown. Phenomenal game worthy of standing next to metroid dread. The only thing I can say is maybe it was a tad longer than I like for this genre. But it was great from start to finish. Difficultly was a little tough on normal, but I pulled through. Thankfully, there's Difficulty options. I really hope people are buying this up.
Well so far, in my quest to get every "finish the story" trophy for my PlayStation games, I've therefore finished "BioShock 2" and "Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time". I will consider Skyrim "beaten" after finishing the main quest (despite there being no credits afterward, probably from the options menu)
So I just beat Xenoblade 3 and itβs indescribably amazing

Well, after about two weeks of playing and countless years of waiting, I've finally beaten Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. this is the best mainline Ace Attorney game
I know that's a pretty controversial statement to make given how divisive AJ is as an entry but nonono: Apollo Justice is the best mainline Ace Attorney game. The original Trilogy is fantastic and has and will most likely always remain a 10/10 in my heart and soul....but Apollo Justice excels in the aspects that make me adore this series. The music? Absolutely incredible and sounds nothing like what came before or after it. The designs/artwork? Utterly phenomenal thanks to the masterful work of Kazuya Nuri who still remains the Ace Attorney artist in my eyes despite only having worked on both AJ and the TGAA duology. The writing? Genuinely hilarious and heartbreaking in equal measure with tons of iconic lines/moments that'll stick with me long after today. And the characters? Hands down, without question, the BEST general cast in an Ace Attorney game: Apollo's highly nervous yet determined demeanour, Trucy's adorably bubbly personality that hits even harder with the bits you eventually learn about her past, Klavier's eternally stylish and dogged pursuit of the truth (and the hearts of young women the world over), Ema's brilliant reinvention from Maya but scientific to someone disillusioned with the world AND THE SMARTEST MF TO EVER EXIST PHOENIX GODDAMN WRIGHT.
If I started going into detail about why I adore this game as much as I do, this post would probably be about 20 paragraphs long so I'll stop here but I think you can see what I'm getting at. In short, Apollo Justice succeeds at the core aspects of what makes Ace Attorney one of my (if not my overall) favourite series of all time. 11/10....god am I terrified of the sequels XD

Continuing on with my year-long Metroid marathon, I just started and beat Metroid II: Return of Samus over the course of a day or two.
Absolutely an improvement over the first game, though I wouldn't say by much. Funnily enough, Metroid II actually introduces a lot of elements that would go on to become mainstays of 2D Metroid like an increased movement speed, higher amount/variety of weapon/suit upgrades and even the more linear structure that Fusion would later nail. It also looks a lot better than the first game as well, even moreso with the Game Boy Colour filter applied; you're much more easily able to distinguish between what will help or hinder you and the spritework itself is pretty well-done, especially for an early Game Boy game. It's also got a surprisingly dynamic OST which I was definitely not expecting and the way certain songs will crescendo upon leaving certain areas or become high-pitched and fast-paced during stressful situations is genuinely great.
However, for all of these positives, Metroid II is marred by one fatal flaw. If the original Metroid on NES is defined by maddening levels of BS crypticness, the sequel then is defined by one word: repetitiveness. Metroid II gives you a single goal of eliminating the 40 Metroids scattered throughout the map....and never really deviates from it at any point. Sure, upgrades like the Spider-Ball make getting to said Metroids a bit more flavourful as the adventure goes on, but at the end of the day, you're still doing basically the same thing over and over and over again (made even more frustrating by how annoying later stages of the Metroid lifecycle can be to defeat). This combined with Metroid II still sharing a lot of it's DNA with the first game in terms of drawbacks (samey-looking areas, very small enemy variety and a propensity to get very easily lost thanks to the lack of a map) in addition to entirely new issues like the incessant need to backtrack if you want to heal your health/missile counts and it all coalesces into an experience that, while I definitely enjoyed it more than the original, is not a game I want to come back to any time soon. 6/10
also, for as much as I've harped on Metroid II here, I'm very much looking forward to playing through Samus Returns down the line and seeing how they go about addressing the original's weak points (plus I may dabble in a certain renowned fangame with ties to it as well but don't tell a soul XD).
@AStupidID Iβm now trying to get all the non-dlc heroes, and then maybe try to level up my characters to the max. Andddd rewatching more cutscenes lol. I want to at least play definitive edition before playing the DLC. Good job beating it!

...I don't know what to actually say about it. This was indeed, a remake of Super Mario RPG. I guess it was maybe a little too easy at points, but otherwise...it was Super Mario RPG. I mean it was awesome, because it was Super Mario RPG, but I have not much to say about it. Actually I have one minor positive and negative thing to say.
Positive: A lot of the enemy profiles were genuinely funny. Some of the humor feels dated in a specific way that it feels like any cleverness about it has been surpassed by a lot of things that its now standard in a way that used to be comedic and weird, if that makes sense. But the new humor with the enemy profiles is great, some of the funnier things I've seen in a while in any game.
Negative: They tried to be a little too clever with a handful of songs being mostly if not entirely the same as the original. They were clearly doing it as a contrast of old and new, and its kinda interesting but when you can already switch the music, it feels a few songs where I would've killed for the new version just didn't get it.
@AStupidID This is my first entry point in the series, so Iβm debating whether I should get 2 or 1. What do you think π€

Play.
Bug.
Fables.
It sells itself as a Paper Mario successor, but I never played that series; don't even like regular Mario that much, and loved it to death. I almost cried tears of joy at the ending, and the gameplay was so much fun.
Just finished Arkham Asylum on switch. First time Ive played since the game launched on ps3/360. I forgot how good the game was, and it holds up extremely well. Some tough sections where you have too many enemies with guns, but other than that, the game plays and controls perfectly. Exploration is super fun, the characters are true to the source material. Such a great time.
