It's two games at a time, not two games per month. I think it can be worth it if you prefer to plow through games fairly quickly, hit the end credits, and then send it back for the next one. If you prefer to savor a game and get all the achievements/100% it, it's value starts to go down unless you spend a LOT of time playing games.
I just don't have enough time to play as many games as I'd like to, so I found that it was a bad value for me. I might start a game and then have to put it aside for several weeks before I can spend any real time with it again.
I think it's fairly bad as a way to try before you buy, because with taxes you pay $25 a month on top of the cost of buying the game if you decide it's worth it. You would take a similar loss if you bought a bad game and sold it immediately on Ebay when you found you didn't like it.
It has its good points and its bad ones. You have to decide if it suits your style of gaming, as well as your budget. There were times when I was strapped for cash that I was grateful I could send in a game I was done with and get a new one in the mail.
Moco Loco If you find yourself spiritually drifting (as I was for far too many years), remember that Jesus can and will walk across the water to reach you and bring you back to shore.
I'd recommend it. I've tried a bunch of online rental sites and Gamefly has the best selection of games. Some of the others I've tried had a great service too, giving me free months for delays, but they had no selection so I never cared how many free months they gave me. Gamefly's shipping is very fast. For $22 I usually get 8 games a month (beats $11 for one rental at my local Blockbuster Video). Gamefly also let's you buy certain games you rent if you don't want to return them. That way, you get to inspect the DVD first hand. If you're happy, buy the used disc. Then they mail you that game's shiny new case/instructions/inserts along with your next rental.
My only fear for Gamefly is they started a Beta for letting users sell them their used games. That is going to bring down the quality of buying used games from Gamefly. Until recently all the games I've bought from them had new cases and instructions but that will all end if they decide to keep buying used games from Gamefly members. It's still a good rental service.
I've heard of GameFly and I've read the ads in Nintendo Power and Wired Magazine but I've never actually seen the need for it when I've got GameStop and Blockbuster all around me. I'm a GameStop Power Up Rewards member and I really enjoy and appreciate the benefits and specials that GameStop offers. I love how at GameStop you can buy a used game and if you don't that game you have a weeks period to return that game and try out another and so on and that is an offering that you simply cannot beat in my opinion as that is almost like visiting the library and checking out a book over and over again.

I had it but I ended up cancelling it cause it took to long between shipments and it was double the price of what Blockbuster was charging for Online rentals. The only thing that some people dont like about Blockbuster Online is that you have to wait 3 months after the release date to rent said game through the mail but I dont mind that too much since I have a huge backlog of games to play that by the time I get around those new released its about 3 months anyway lol. For example Mario Sports Mix which came out in February just became available for rent from Blockbuster Online yesterday.
With Gamefly though I had to wait about a week to get games once I sent them out where as with Blockbuster Online their shipping is as fast as Netflix. Also with Blockbuster Online you can return the game you get in the mail into a store and check out another game if you dont want to wait for the mail either.
As far as customer service goes Blockbuster Online is far better then the brick and mortar stores one time I didnt get my game and I reported it and than they set out a replacement right away. The last game I rented from them had a huge scratch on it and wouldn't play in my Xbox and once again I reported it and they took care of it no problem. I dont know about Gamefly since when I used them I didnt have any problems so I cant say.
As far as keeping the game if you like it Blockbuster Online has that as well and they send you the case and the book as well if you choose to keep it.
Hope that helps you Splat.

Awesome! That's totally awesome, I wasn't aware that you could even do that. That is deliciously incredible.

Yea unfortunately I cant do that cause all the Blockbusters around me closed up about a year ago hence why I turned to online rental services like Netflix for movies and Blockbuster Online for games. But yeah if you got one near you you can take it in instead of sending it in the mail. I am not sure how it works thought cause as I said I dont have a Blockbuster Store near me.

I googled gamefly reviews and read a lot of horror stories, mostly involving horrendous customer service and very slow shipping and processing times. lots and lots of people complained of being charged fraudulently and feeling scammed and sometimes waiting 2 weeks for another game. I was recently given a gift of 6 free months with gamefly and I'm excited to try it myself. I'll be sure to post my thoughts afterwards, but I'm starting to think Blockbuster Online or even Redbox and Blockbuster stores will fit my needs better.
Kinda interesting here GameFly now owns Direct2Drive which if you not familiar with D2D its a PC game download site pretty much like Steam. Kinda wondering how this is going to play out with GameFly does this mean we will be able to buy PC games from GameFly now as well?
I looked into this as well, as it makes getting my hands on games alot easier, and making my life as an achievement whore that much simpler. But I can't trust the effectiveness of renting form an online source. Waiting days to get the games means my money is being wasted. That's why I became friends with someone who owns their own video game store, and just said I'd pay him $15/month for any game (for any console ever made, mind you) out at a time. When I was done with the game, I'd walk in with it, grab a new game, and leave, that easy. Now, I'm working for the guy so I just borrow them for free.

I read this post and then checked my bank statement--turns out Gamefly has charged me an extra $53.34 after I canceled my service a few weeks ago. I've sent them Emails asking what gives? I'll post how this mess plays out.

Sounds like they are charging you for a game.

@Tasuki You're right, they were. It was a game I mailed back to them though.
I Emailed them about this problem and didn't get very far. Then I called them and worked things out, no problem. So I'm still good.
I'm glad you got that worked out, there are a lot of complaints out there for this very thing and it seems they really jump the gun on charging people. And a lot of people have said when they complained or protested any charges they were automatically banned from using gamefly for life. When I give it a try I'm going to make certain I empty my queue and send back all my games and make sure they receive them before canceling my account so they don't have a heart attack.
any current customers have any word on whether they have improved on processing and shipping times?
