A typing/learn the alphabet game with a penguin in the mid-late 80s. Can’t remember or find the name of it. It was the first game we were allowed to play on my dads briefcases that turned into a PC
I don't remember specifically, but I do remember that we had a 286 PC (remember those?) which was archaic, even by early 90s standards.
I don't recall precisely when we got the computer though. I had no sense of time and date until 1994 (when I was either four or five), but my mum was always insistent that we got the computer in 1993 (or even as early as 1992).
I seem to recall that we had Wolfenstein 3D very early on, but it didn't look the way that it should, because I don't think that our humble 286 had a VGA card (but I cannot recall specifically). I also seem to recall it being very choppy.
One of the first floppies (if not THE first) that we bought from the Sunday computer market at North Rocks shopping centre in Sydney (which was where most of our shareware purchases were made throughout the 90s), contained five games, including Billy the Kid Returns (which upset me as a kid), Star Goose, Fairy Godmom, Llamatron, as well as an unofficial Mario Bros. (1983) clone called Mario Bros. VGA. There was another 5 game compilation on floppy, but I can't seem to recall what was on that one. It may have included the very first Dangerous Dave game.
Commander Keen 5 was also one of our first purchases (sold as shareware in error) and to this day remains my favourite game in the series, as well as being one of my absolute favourite games of all time. A bona fide classic, regardless of platform.
Our 286 didn't have Windows either, so we had to navigate using MS-DOS (more or less the Command Prompt function on modern Windows operating systems), and our 386 had Windows 3.11. There was a DOS program called XTree Gold though, which sort of worked as an operating system/file management program before we had Windows, and I remember fooling around with that quite a bit.
We also had a program that my uncle must have installed on the computer before giving it to us, being PC Globe, an atlas program that was already out of date by the time we received the computer (and it included PC Speaker versions of national anthems). I vividly remember the flag of Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo) which was probably my favourite.
I'll shut up before I keep reminiscing until 2021.
Mario Kart Wii was the first game I owned. But I think I played a few games on the DS before that?
Your first anything is important; a memory you don't want to forget. That's what makes nostalgia such a fascinating concept. That's why many people enjoy games that have aged well.
In terms of PC games, I think my first one was some free Flintstones edutainment game on my mom's Windows 95 machine. She also had the original Oregon Trail. I liked this game but couldn't play it on my own since I couldn't read yet, so I'd beg her to play it lol.
@Liamo I still credit Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country for making me fall in love with gaming. I spent a lot of after school hours at an aunt's, who babysat me and my siblings for years. My cousins had a SNES that she'd let me play in the basement after I was done with my homework. XD
The first game I can remember was Super Mario Bros in 1987, because I have a proof: a christmas picture. But I played something before at a friend and in a big store
If you discount all of the worthless web browser games I would have played since I was like 5 on my parents computer (of which I'd probably say Doodle God was the earliest one I can remember), then probably Mario Kart Wii at a friend's.
Super mario bros and duck hunt. Somewhat not fond of either still because of that.

My earliest proper memory with games was Pokémon blue. I know that I played a few others before then but Pokémon Blue was the first one that kept my attention through to completion.
The 1980s/90s are very hazy in my memory but I’m guessing it was probably Super Mario Bros NES on a shop display? I remember the Simpsons Arcade game but that might have been later. My gaming memories really kick in from about the age of 8/9.
‘You swapped three different N64 games for Pokemon Stadium? Where’s your pride? Your dignity?!?
My first owned game was pokemon ultra sun (It is the best pkmn game and you cannot change my mind) but I recall having a go at some Pixar cars game on the wii as a little kid
