Super Mario galaxy 2 is my favourite with its predecessor in second. The level design in those games is fantastic and there is so much creativity in those games too.

Super Mario sunshine isn't my least favourite Mario game overall but its my least favourite 3D Mario platformer but I can see why some would have it as their favourite and there are some things I love about it like it has the best hub of all the Mario games and I hope they try to make a hub as good as the one in SMS in a future Mario platformer. Also, as Mickeymac said, the connectivity in it was great too.

@Mickeymac Would it be fair to say you dislike Mario the same way I dislike Wayforward? I know it's a series vs. company comparison, but otherwise it's fairly similar.

It's not similar. I dislike Mario because of various reasoms with each particular game. Besides, I don't think you necessarily dislike Wayforward, just their particular games. I'll admit, I don't always love Wayforward's games, but as a company they represent an ideal I feel many could get behind.

Wait, maybe I'm not understanding correctly. I dislike particular things about Wayforward games, which is similar to your overall dislike of Mario; it's different reasons for almost every game. Regarding your feelings on Wayforward as a company, Mario is a series, which, as I said, where my comparison doesn't work.

Off topic for a second why don't you like wayforward they are a better company then others. They remade a boy and his blob which was a great underated game.

Just curious what mario games have you played?

Every Mario Party game, every Mario Platformer except Super Mario Land 2, every Mario RPG, every Mario Kart game, and most of the Mario Sports game released since the N64 era.

As for my problems with each game:

Every most of the games in every Mario Party lack the need for skill. Every Mario Sports game except Maybe Mario Golf 64 added some cheap element to an otherwise acceptable sport. And then Mario Kart has cheap elements that remove the need for skill in an otherwise acceptable racing game. As for the 2D Mario platformers, most of my problems with them stem from the fact that I never grew up with them, nor have I ever experienced anything that plays exactly like them before. Of course, I also have my individual problems with each game as well (except for the first New Super Mario Bros.). And both Super Mario Galaxy games strip out everything that made Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine good and replaced them with sleep-inducing linearity and platforming challenges which have been done far better in other games, IMO.

Super Mario Galaxy. Never have I played a platform game that combined interesting worlds with such a great amount of inventive gameplay ideas. It's not just how well every little element is executed, but also how well they all blend together to make one giant masterpiece of a game. And the graphics are some of the best seen in any platformer to top it of.

Understandable but mario galaxy one and 2 were pretty fun. Maybe you aren't a linear kind of guy but mario galaxy 1 wasn't too linear. Plus in general they are great games. Mario party is simple because it is meant to be a fun time with friends. The 'Cheap elements' in mario kart or mario sports is what make them unique and fun. I mean if it was just mario driving around it would get boring. Same goes for sports if mario and friends were just playing baseball or soccer it would get old quick. Now if your friends are cheap when it comes to items in game(They use them all the time) Then yes it can get annoying. However they are fun games to play with friends that's what those are meant to be.

Yes it was.

Not really. Even for a linear platformer I can think of several games that had far better and more interesting level designs, such as Rayman 2 and Daxter. Mario Galaxy couldn't hold my attention for very long at all, especially compared to those games.

I don't know about you, but most of the people I'm around prefer a fair challenge, so "fun" is definitely not what we had.

No, it's what made them cheap and frustrating.

Obviously you're not a racing fan.

Only because they're terrible representations of otherwise fun sports.

Well, there sure as hell nothing stopping them from doing that, that's for sure.

Good to know they failed to correctly do their job.

I think you are just overly picky.
1st of all what I was saying is that if mario kart or mario party was just them playing the sport or racing all it would be is need for speed or madden with mario characters instead of actual players. The items are meant to make them different. Look at mario kart it made a genre of it's own with a million other companies taking the formula because it's fun. They are not meant to be taken seriously. It's not mario street racing for example it's Mario kart. Mario party is meant to be a fun little party game if you want challenge play it on hard or intense difficulty. Plus the premise is to try and do better then your friends or to work together to do better then another team. It's not about wow this is such a hard mini game that I can't even beat it.

Super mario galaxy one had it's linear moments but it had non linear segments. Sorry you don't like them but to say it's not a good game or unoriginal is basically unfair. Yes it's not 100% original because it's mario and a platformer but him in space jumping from planet to planet is original. Well why are you comparing the game it's a different platformer from Daxter or raymen 2. I have played through quite a bit of platformers and have had fun but by far one of the best was galaxy.

The sports games are supposed to be baseball for example with special moves and mario themes. I like to play some sports games but have honestly had more fun playing mario sports games. Not saying all but most. They are a good take on sports and not meant to have all the rules and regulations as normal sports or sports games.

Well when you get hit just take the cheap shots and try to win. That's good competition someone hits you with a blue shell you keep driving you don't stop and say 'hey why did you hit me'

Super Mario World all the way. That game was a masterpiece. I liked it better than SMB3. I mean SMB3 is an excellent game, but World is on another level even for Mario games. Super Mario Galaxy was really good too. I love the worlds, themes, and gameplay. I am have special feelings for that game. Both rank among my favorite games of all time. It's funny because everyone I talked to said they liked Sunshine the least.
