Topic: Do you wish to see a sixth new Super Smash Bros. game?

I do, certainly. Although yeah, I sympathise the downside of feeling that it may not be possible. : ( One of my friends on dA, nicknamed Newcomer24, wrote a literature about this ideal game, suggesting things like the return of Galeem and Dharkon, and space-themed fighters like Samus and Fox, alongside Krystal being playable for the first time, start off in a new story adventure. But hey, just his ideas proposed.

Sooo... What are the new characters you desire to join in this future game for playability? Master Chief? Phoenix Wright? Rouge? Midna? (I know she's a guest! XD) So many different characters throughout gaming history we could mention. These were the only few I could think of.

Krystal of Star Fox better become part of the playable roster! Sorry, but she means true and personal to me, and that's final, thank you. I never agreed with her Assist Trophy presence, nor her cameos from early games but they weren't AS worse for me, however. Yes I know Krystal wasn't much of a story character in Star Fox, yes I know she is Rare's character, and I do also suspect that even Nintendo themselves don't seem to like her either. What's the problem in that, then? She is unique, special, and has pleased many of her fans. She deserves to not only be playable for official Smash games but also brought back and be given larger roles in possible future Star Fox titles. Don't worry though - I am NOT counting that DS game Command where left off because I know it's non-canon, and I respect it well. I have you know that my friend Newcomer24 is a hater of Star Fox Command because he says the same too about it being different. I said to him it's OK and I understood. I'm not a hater in Command myself, just enjoyed it as a game, really, for its addictive game play, good controls and work. And about my ideas for Krystal in Smash, obviously she could have all the outfits from Adventures, Assault and Command to choose from, and use her Staff to combat. Final Smash? Not sure, probably Krystal on her CloudRunner friend flying around the stage to blast others out. Or something.

Once again to say, Smash might not continue. Ultimate could be the last game in the series, and now it's 5 years old so far. Last thing for me to mention - I do NOT approve McLeodGaming's fangame Super Smash Flash 2 quite the same as Nintendo's Smash games. It's 2D, has pixelated fighters and items, and not even completed in development 'cause it's still beta. Krystal playable in this fangame was actually a cool idea, though. But I'd rather her in real Smash. Her movesets in this fangame are only suggestions. Nintendo would do much better than that, despite them not liking her it seems.

No,I prefer single player games.

I guess so, but I mean a more story focused single player game. Going up endlessly against a CPU isn’t really fun.
I’m sure I’m in the minority on this though.

hell yeah , of course i do ! it’s why i keep a nintendo around ! & i hope the next game is a reboot , it NEEDS to be . As for the characters , i hope they actually SHRINK the roster . i don’t like ultimates roster at all , it’s extremely bloated with junk and C-list filler ; more quantity over quality and a nothing burger IMO . aside from the 32 characters brawl had (skipped wii u , didn’t care for it ) i don’t use anyone else .

I hope the roster consists of characters that actually look/feel like they belong in a fighter setting ; crystal from starfox was a good example you stated . get rid of garbage like villager , duck hunt , wii fit trainer , the yellow dog , minecraft , etc and gimmicky nonsense like piranha plant ; where at a point where assist trophies/items are on the roster , it’s ridiculous . put more characters that are fighter material and tone back on third-party tremendously . with the roster having less characters , they’ll be more fleshed out and have more depth , and resources can be put into improving everything else .

bring the series back to its roots with the characters having the lore of toys that come to life or trophies again (like the first 3 games ) make it have that nintendo oriented feel again instead of a “celebration of video games” bull crap that people try to force down some of our throats just because they want smash to be MUGEN . i miss the classic smash (64-brawl) so much , and play them much, much , more than ultimate .

i want a reboot & for smash to take itself more seriously . bring back the brawl look , make it look like a fighting game . it shouldn’t have the same graphics as mario kart or mario party . & focus on bringing back all of the classic modes like board the platforms and race to the finish . just bring back smash bros and be serious about it . time for a new take .

Edit - forgot to add that i also hope it DOESNT release on the switch , because the switch is a handheld and ultimate feels like a mobile game to me even when docked . i’m hoping the next smash is a true console game .

Just bring back a storyline similar to Subspace Emissary, where you unlock the characters whilst tying up all the characters in an over arching way. Loved it, but sad no others used something similar.

I would be interested, but more for the sheer morbid curiosity of what would be created, as I fail to see how it can eclipse Ultimate. I sincerely doubt all the characters will be in the same game once again, short of a re-release.

I feel what would be cool is if instead of a fighting game, they make a game in another genre; maybe make some sort of adventure game with some of Nintendo's classic characters. I am fairly sure there are many others who have thought the same thing.

To me the best idea would be (if possible, because good luck licensing all these characters twice), I'd honestly just port Ultimate to the next system, maybe add a couple of things or have another fighters pass. They're not topping Smash Ultimate regardless.

Maybe make a different type of fighting game for Smash 6 on the Switch 2 so that it isn't a Mario Kart 9 situation.

@MS7000 I've definitely thought this as well. Basically a Nintendo themed Kingdom Hearts. Call it Smash Bros Quest or something.
As for a proper follow up? Ultimate was so huge that the next game will never live up to it, so make us wait. A long time. Maybe a cross gen release for Switch 2 and 3.

I don't mind if they released Smash Ultimate Definitive Edition (all DLC included) on the next console. Otherwise, yes, the next game should be a reboot with half the roster. Too many single-game characters that have become irrelevant.

Economically, Nintendo will most certainly make another Smash Bros. game. With how popular it is and how much income it's generated, they'd be foolish not to. My concern, and I don't think I'm alone in this, is where they're going to go next. After having so many fighters, not to mention all the cameos and fan service represented in the Spirits, essentially anything else they could offer up would be a downgrade.
When they do though, I personally really want to see more variety in the fighters. Far too many are practically reskins of other fighters, perhaps with minor tweaks. And that's not even mentioning the elephant in the room of how bloated the roster is with Fire Emblem and Pokemon characters.

Personally, no. I've had my fill with Smash. But as a person that wants to see Nintendo do well financially and purchases their stock. Keep em coming. Ultimate is the last one for me.

In the long term? Sure. For the Switch as it is? No. For their next piece of hardware? I would rather just see the game patched to take advantage of the increased horsepower. With maybe some more DLC for the base game. I would hope if we get a "new release" of Smash within the next 5 years it's just a re-release of the same game with DLC included

I feel the same way about Mario Kart. We don't really need a Mario Kart 9, I don't really see the point of it. What I'd rather see is them continue to release DLC for Mario Kart 8

..... but then again, Splatoon 3 exists so. I expect I'll end up not getting what I want here

It’ll probably be on the next console. Don’t know how they’re gonna top Ultimate though.

As for characters? I’ve been playing a lot of Metal Gear Rising lately, so I’d like Raiden in the game, even if 50% of that is just for Rising’s soundtrack lol. Otherwise, probably Isaac from Golden Sun

They would have to make it smaller so they can focus on the deeper mechanics of the game itself.

Yes. Especially if they allowed the following to remain:

1. Sound test and My Music.
2. The ability to take lots of silly pictures.
