Topic: Do You Give Nicknames To Video Game Characters?

_{/me takes a stab at a legitimate and hopefully not lock-worthy topic}

So do you? I know I do. It helps make a character that's kinda blah and forgettable into someone not-blah and un-forgettable. Most recently I nicknamed every single character in Final Fantasy X because I wasn't really a fan of most of them. And instead of the blah adventures of people with stupid names, it's the awesome adventures of Teedius, Biscuit, 'Sup Bro, Chesty, Kitty Cat, Shades, and Hawt Bandit against the likes of Cockroach, Beluga and the Righteous Old Man. And if you do, give us a few of your favorites. I love seeing other people's nicknames for some reason. It really gives me an insight into what they think of a character.

No... never did. But I use classic ones like Weegee.

My friends and i call Voldo from SoulCaliber, Crackocaine

Sometimes I nickname my own character Turtle Man. That's my nickname in real life. But other than that no.

I do when I can't figure out how to pronounce the name, so I give a nickname close but pronounceable. And I give nicknames to some characters every now and then because I feel like it. Or sometimes a move they can do. Like in Mortal Kombat, Johnny Cage can shoot those green fireballs, I call those snot balls lol

Me and an online friend play Brawl online using Random on the Character Selection quite frequently (tbh it's the only way we play nowadays). Just before the match starts we quickly yell (well, type in caps) the character we've received. Most are pretty functional nicknames (Blucario, Greike [Green Ike], etc), but there's a few completely offbeat ones in there too. One [possibly quite drunk] match resulted in Commander Athiest for whenever Cptn Falcon is green. Um. Yes.
Oh, and Anime Hero Pikachu for Pika with goggles. He's a favourite.

More like hell yes. Commander Atheist, that's awesome. I know Falcon is a favorite of mine. Captain Canary way back in the days of the original Smash, Captain Fruity in white and pink, Old-School Captain in the classic colors, _{Captain Goldnipples}....none of those are as good as Commander Atheist though.

I call Samus "Sammy", and I sometimes call Mega Man "Rock", but I didn't make those nicknames. When a game is really hard, I tend to call the main character ***hole, dumbf***, tard***, mentally incapable handif***, etc.

If they do something stupid, like in a cutscene or if I die, I basically call them the words that Shadx said.

i call R.O.B,wally (the robot from that pixar movie) alot

Yeah, I named 'Barrett' from FF7 'Mr. T', so when he went back to his old town, they called him 'Mr. Mr. T', and I named 'Cloud' 'Gohan'.

I'd be lying if I said a lot of my inspiration wasn't that story, Chunky. I wanted to hear it again. One of my personal favorites; the thought of Gohan and Mr. T fighting Sephiroth with a baseball bat and a boxing glove is too epic(ly hilarious).

Not so much for me. I only use nicknames like "that good/evil person" when talking to my non-gamer friends.

I remember that we called Captain Falcon something to do with a fairy. This was back in the day of Super Smach Bros.
_{subsequently, I became the fairy as I kept using him for his "fairy move" (up B to most of us) everyone}

My friend always puts Link as his name in any Zelda game but I always do a random name my name was probably Poko

All the time. Usually it involves some sort of swear word, or an allusion to a phallus.
