Topic: Do people still hate Toon Link?

they do it that way because of the split timeline. OOT had two endings the child ending where link goes to termina and he's not there to stop gannon so the red king floods hyrule which leads to wind waker and the other where they tell on gannon before he could act which goes into the trail scene from twilight princess.

Well, WW is my favorite zelda game. PH is my 3rd. You could say I like the style of games "Toon Link" is in. And I'm up for any more art styles(art style, hee hee).

Thanks for the history lesson (even though technically the term popped up BEFORE SSB Brawl). But still, I feel that "Toon Link" is really unnecessary since technically he's still link and that the only thing that makes WW, PH, and now ST so different then any other Zelda game is the graphical style, which isn't amazing/groundbreaking enough to rename the main character "Toon Link".

EDIT: Yeah, I know Link's not called "Toon Link" in the games, but Nintendo has basically excepted the ability for their own employees to call him "Toon Link", so it's not just some internet thing.

he looks cartoonish hence the name toon link. this was mainly after the spaceworld footage eveyone was expecting anything but cel-shaed zelda.

You're not getting the point of my argument. I know WHY people call him "Toon Link" (I was using the dramatic "I didn't know" lie to make my argument more "epic/persuasive" if that's even possible ), I don't understand why people STILL call him that, even though the graphics have seem to be accepted as alternate version Zelda universe (kinda like the whole Vaati/Gannon Big-Bad-Boss thing, only more flexible). He should just be called "Link" in my opinion.

Well the name is really only used when taliking about the twilight princess link and wind waker link in the same sentence. i still call him link since the two characters are the same people as the games play out directly at the same time.

Th name is also used because the art style is used in non WW connected zelda games like the four swords and minish cap games.

Never!!! I am a big fan Cel-shaded Link and his Windwaker adventures. Not to mention he is one of my favorite characters in Brawl

I'd have to say the gayer style of design fits the character better, so Toon Link makes sense.

@shingi_70 I'm just gonna end this weird conversation/rant about how Link and "Toon Link" should be called the same thing since I seem to be getting nowhere. I'm not saying that you're not being ignorant/stupid, it's that I realize that I'm arguing about something that's almost completely pointless.

I prefer Ocarina of Time's Link look, I don't really like Toon Link Zelda games for some reason, the games are great, but I like Zelda games like Majora's Mask, Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, you get the idea!
Anyway, in my opinion, I think Toon Link is kinda cheap (there is a bunch of cheap characters in Brawl IMO), but Ike will AND always be the king of cheapness though.

I don't hate Toon Link, I just hate the spammers who use his down Ariel attack and nothing else. I really don't consider calling him Toon Link disrespect. I do prefer Toon Link though, I love the cartoony look. I loved phantom hourglass, but I could never beat WindWaker.
@LoneG I don't consider Ike the king of Cheapness. I consider Pikachu Spammers the kings [oh wait, because of the players, it would have to be queens] of cheapness. Sonic's final smash is cheap also=it last FOREVER and is really hard to avoid.

I guess I should add before anyone accuses me of homophobia I didn't mean gay as in one's sexual orientation, but rather the other definition . I'm pretty sure everyone understood that, but some people....
