I've noticed there's been a couple of recent cartoon threads made lately, so I'll dedicate one to everything Disney. Come here to talk about Disney films, TV shows, books, news, characters, and anything Disney. This also includes Pixar or recent additions to the Disney franchise like The Muppets. Please keep this thread clean and constructive as much as possible.
The frequency of cancellation had more to do with their 65th episode rule (regarding television shows). Which has largely been tossed out now, since they rarely run shows in syndication any more.
But speaking of cancellations, I am disappointed they had discontinued the Walt Disney Treasures series years ago. The DVD series was absolutely brilliant. My two personal favorites are "Tomorrow Land" and the Zorro Complete Collection (wave 9)
They've been doing well for themselves on the movie front. I hope the next Iron Man turns out as great as the trailers have made it seem. I also wish them luck on the Lone Ranger and the next Star Wars movie. I wish they'd do more cartoon movies like in the old days, though. The Princess and the Frog was really good, and showed that they still had potential on that front. Oh well, at least they got Studio Ghibli for that kind of stuff.
Yes, Disney Channel isn't what it used to be. I remember the days of Ducktales, Chip N' Dale Rescue Rangers, Goof Troop, Darkwing Duck, House of Mouse, Recess, and other endearing cartoons. I don't even watch Disney Channel much except for the occasional animated Disney or Pixar classic. It's quite a shame, really.
I know right? I was always glued to the TV as a kid thanks to those shows. Now Disney Channel is full of nothing but stupid live action teen pop star crap. The only thing good left that's relatively new is Phineas & Ferb.

I miss Toon Disney… I used to love that channel. Watching the Disney channel these days is just upsetting. Everything's changed and not for the better. On the plus side, Disney is still able to crack out awesome movies such as Tangled, Up, The Princess and the Frog etc.
Raven: I know I'll be getting this for Christmas, anyways, but I need to wear it to school, it's just so cute~ Puts on necklace
Raven: I'll just put it back later~ Drops it out window by mistake

Oh my word, whenever Raven did something like that I would sceam!
WHY RAVEN!? WHY!?
One of my favorite episodes is when Their parents left Raven and Corey at home with this babysitter... Who's coming back for revenge! Of course it was for a prank tv show. (When I was younger, and I saw it when it aired, I was seriously scared for them.)
That one always made me laugh.
This has been running through my head like crazy, lately. Any other favorite music selections?
And yeah, the shows have been much worse, lately. They should be replaying traditional shows sometimes, at the very least. Although I agree with @Shy_Kai they still get out some great movies! Up is one of the few movies that can really pick with me.

Love this song! Recently I've been doing this Disney song challenge. Everyday I pick a Disney song and sing it to one of my friends! It lots of fun and it really brings back good memories.
Will be singing this song to her on Monday [youtube:JI7cIYcnTRU]
So who else loved how Lilo & Stitch's entire marketing consisted of Stitch simply not fitting in? All of Disney (Jasmine aside) just reacted with disgust, resentment, and even fear towards Stitch. See for yourself:
(Aladdin has the funniest reaction in my opinion. XD)
@DestinyMan Wow! What a coincidence! See, I'm sure I saw this thread back in March, but I assume that was back during the Luthor era of my existence on NL so I probably couldn't have cared less back then. Then, recently, I thought "Hey! How come there's no Disney thread? I should make one!" But, before making the thread, I used the search (like a good user) and, what do you know, you already made one! I've been trying to think up a good excuse to post here since then and I only recently found one. And I'm glad Stitch is accepted in the Disney family now too.
I saw the Frozen trailer... I'm skeptical, but I was skeptical back when Tangled came out and that prevented me from watching it for a little bit. Needless to say, I'm not making the same mistake I made back then.

It's been made all but official: After years in "development hell", we might actually be getting a new "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" movie. During an interview at the premiere of Flight, Robert Zemeckis (the director of the original) stated that the sequel is still possible, despite Hoskins’ retirement, and the script for the sequel has been sent to Disney for approval from studio executives. Zemeckis said that the sequel will remain 2D and live-action sequences will be filmed, just like in the original film, but the lighting effects on the cartoon characters and some of the props that the toons handle will be done digitally. And Frank Marshall (executive producer of Who Framed Roger Rabbit) has confirmed that it'll be a prequel, similar to earlier drafts, and that the writing is almost complete.
This might surprise some of you: I've never watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit. I saw a bit of the end once, I went on the Disneyland ride, but I've never really seen the movie. This announcement has convinced me to Netflix it as soon as possible so I can watch it before this sequel (that's been in development for years, might I add) comes rip-roaring to theaters. All that aside, what do you think about this?

I think it's pretty cool! It'll be good to see another film where 2D hand drawn animation is at the forefront, in our CGI world.
I don't know about the prequel idea though. I love Looney Tunes & classic Disney toons, but I don't know if they have the same pull nowadays that they did in the 80's. If it really is a prequel, that means they couldn't throw in the tolken Cars, SpongeBob or Shrek character to draw in today's youth (the first was set during the 40's or 50's).
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
So thanks to the marvels of modern technology (Netflix Instant), I saw Who Framed Roger Rabbit!
The story, the characters, the animation, the comedy! Why, I haven't smiled or laughed that much since I don't remember when! Fantastic movie, I'm glad I saw it, and this movie is right up there (next to Fantasia) as my No. 1 favorite movie.
@RR529 I'm sure Disney knows what it's doing. I'm sure it'll be almost as good as the first one, maybe less than that, but I'm sure I'll still love it.
