So. Not all that long after DC changed their logo (which I've only recently become accustomed to) they went and did it again. I think the author here sums it up better than I could:
Looks good to me. Seems to only be a mock up and rich is blowing it out of proportion like usual. Needs some color. Theyprobably keep the old one for media logos and this one be the overall coporate logo.
Smart move.
WAT!
Hey check out my awesome new youtube channel shingi70 where I update weekly on the latest gaming and comic news form a level headed perspective.
@shingi_70 It might look good if you make that rather large assumption. Who's to say that's what they're going to do? Because it is both DC Comics and DC Entertainment's new logo, which they are already registering for lots of merchandising (which means it's not just the overall corporate logo). Oh and like you said about color, others have pointed out they may add color later, but I still think it's a pointless move. You can like it if you want...but I don't want DC joining the ranks of all these business that think they need to change their logo to something more hip (or whatever else) every few years to stay relevant.
And I don't know who Rich is, but yes Bob Bricken likes to whine a lot and blow things out of proportion. But it's his blog so I guess he can lol
EDIT: And yeah I'd be fine with it if that was just their new overall corporate logo. Just not the new logo which it appears to be. It doesn't seem like quite the smart move it could have been.
It looks too serious but at the same time it looks more "professional" Like Nintendo's logo (the current one). I'll get used to it. I mean it's a clever thing but to looks like they are selling office supplies.
Edit: Or what my friend just said... or worse...a corrupt corporation like OCP (from Robocop. LOL )
I'm not gonna bother reading all the responses on this one, but if it's the same DC peel logo I've seen making the rounds online, I think it looks pretty darn cool, classy even... I like how it reminds me of opening a physical comic book and turning the page. Only gripe is that it doesn't find a way to incorporate any stars, but that could make it cluttered. As it is now, it works.
What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.
For some reason it hurts my eyes as they try to seperate the D and the C. It's like they refuse to see them as one entity. Luckily I'll never have to see the new logo in action, so it's all good.
Some people are saying it's childish and gaudy, overly complicated, and confusing. Others are saying it's a brilliant move. Though, some are saying it is a great idea, but it could have been executed better.
@joevox316: What I meant to say was I was going to post my post before reading responses. I went and read them afterwards... Also, I don't think it's ugly, I doubt many people would cause it really isn't, like others have mentioned, it's quite classy. A very small vocal minorty of people are just over reacting because it is new and they're resistant to change. In my opinion, it's a good logo and has good potential. As a former comic book collector/reader, it brings me back to an earlier time when I used to read comics and enjoy the story and art contained within. In all seriousness, if the logo change really is a big enough of an issue for current buyers to consider stopping buying and reading DC comics, that's a whole other problem.

Sorry, I edited my other post lol What I meant to say in the first place is that this post was created talking about the original, which was grey and just plain ugly looking. That first impression wasn't a good one. People overreact. It's the Internet. (I also don't recall anyone saying it was such a big issue they'd stop buying comics, which would of course be silly) Also...it's not a small minority of people. It's hundreds (based on the number of comments I've seen on several websites). But that's the Internet!! Everyone will calm down and deal with it eventually. lol But yes...it's pretty cool looking now.
