I tried once because I heard too many people saying I had to "Grow up".... in the consecutive week the 3DS had the price cut and I ended being too weak.....
that failure was the best failure in my life! Thank you my weakness! you helped me at least once! and now I plan to "Grow up" in the gaming industry so no one will be able to complain if I like videogames!

goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

I hadn't realized it until about two days ago but I haven't played a single game in weeks. Didn't really notice since I was out doing other things

Too many people see video games as childish, for no good reason. Video games can be enjoyed by children, yes, but that doesn't mean that most of them are MADE for children. Kids like movies, so do I, but when I go to see the newest Tarantino film the day it comes out, nobody calls me childish. Yet when I pre-order games, my father always says to me, "When are you going to grow up?"

It baffles me every time.

@Captain_Balko to tell the truth I only heard them because of.... well... I wanted to be more sociable.... in the end it was when I embraced both the videogames and my own personality that things worked out fine!

Eh, I probably could. I don't game as much as I used to.

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

A couple weeks ago I was playing the Wii U and 3DS like crazy, but then classes started for college and I just haven't gotten around to it much again.
But if I had to, yes I definitely could just quit playing videogames on the spot, although it would be pretty painful and sad.

If I want to stop doing something - I will. (Ihh)
I even fail to understand how someone can say that they just can't stop something.

My brain is under no illusions, that if I think "I'll stop doing ****" then I simply will. If had to stop using consoles or the internet, them fine. I would not do it again.

Wheeler

Haven't play anything for a whole week.

No. I couldn't. Video games are a part of my life. I play video games. I go on websites about video games. I talk about video games. I'm learning how to make video games. Making video games indie-style is my dream job.

And I'm not the kind of guy that plays video games 5 hours a day. It's just my favorite way to pass time, and then some.

I'm pretty okay.

Eh~ it would depend on a few different factors. Like me being bizzy where I don't have time. But I would eventually play so I guess I would say no that I would never just stop playing.

Really? Then tell your brain to stop breathing permanently.

In all seriousness though, frankly, people say they have complete control over what they do but in practice it isn't true. Your Id will usually beat out your Ego when it comes to things that will give you pleasure without harming you (in many cases, even things that give your pleasure while harming you). Your ego says, "I won't eat that delicious cake because I'm on a diet", while your Id says, "CAKE GOOD! EAT CAKE NOW!". In the end, the Id is generally louder and wins out. A more extreme case - I'm not sure if you're a male or female or your sexuality, but imagine an extremely attractive member of whatever gender you are attracted to is seducing you. But you for some reason decided that you were going to be chaste until marriage because, hey, it's cool to live in the mindset of your great grandmother. Your ego says, "Gee, I shouldn't do this with that person", while your Id screams, "OH YEAH, SEXY TIME!" or something to that effect.

I admire your optimism, but humans are generally disgusting creatures who more often than not, submit to their urges in order to attain pleasure, even though the civilized part of them may not want to. Video games provide many of us with pleasure. Taking that pleasure out of our lives permanently would be a difficult experience, especially if video games were around and the only thing holding you back was sheer willpower. If you believe you can resist every temptation the earth has to offer, either you're Jesus Christ himself, or haven't faced too many temptations yet.

I've had times like this. I could quit immediately if I had something good enough to take its place. If not...pffft, no way.

I have to keep my hands busy. I just can't sit or stand still at all. Playing games or being on the internet is the easiest way for me to keep them moving, so I tend to do both a lot. (it's hard for me to sit & watch T.V. or a movie, for example, since you don't use your hands).

Am I addicted to the internet & games, though? I don't think so. I've never had a problem focusing on school or work, it's just that as I don't currently have a job, grabbing the 3DS or sitting down at the computer is the quickest & easiest way for me to get my hands moving.

I probably do both a little more than I should, but once I find another job, it should be good.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

I could if I absolutely had to quit, but I don't have to so I won't. It would be hard to quit completely. I've loved gaming ever since my dad bought me a Super Nintendo. Just about everyone in my family does some sort of gaming, so in a way its how we connect.

@Captain_Balko - Whilst your post is true for the most part; you fail to understand(/beleive?) that I have complete control Ihh over what I do.
I actually find it pretty funny when people say they can't overcome addictions. I just think to myself "just stop using it, especially if you want to".

Either way, I can still assure you that everything in my last post is still entirely true.

Luckily for you, you've never faced true addiction. True addiction relies on a physical need (as well as a mental need) to partake in. I really admire your optimism, but doubt that you've been put to the ultimate test. If you're addicted to, say, heroin, and you are shaking and convulsing due to heroin withdrawals, and there is heroin literally right in front of you, already prepared, and the only thing holding you back is your willpower, I refuse to believe that you will be strong enough to resist it. So yes, I don't believe you. Not from a personal perspective, of course, but from a purely scientific standpoint. I truly do admire your confidence in your abilities, and have no doubt that your will is strong, but, as some say, to err is to be human, and the only way one could withstand true addiction with willpower alone (without the help and support of other people) is if they are either a robot or Vulcan. Please let me know if you fall under one of those categories, and I'll gladly retract my statement. Once again, it's nothing personal, but I'm a bit of a cynic and have trouble believing that humans can overcome adversity so easily.
