Topic: Coronation

Really enjoying the Coronation.
I know it's a lot of pomp and pageantry but these are our traditions and heritage and it makes me proud to see them upheld.

Anyone got any celebrations planned for the bank holiday weekend? At a time of unease an event like this is well needed to unite the country.

Pre-gig drinks in a pub then off to see Post Malone and even if I wasn't I'd be playing Splatfest. I'm not apart of the royal family so it's not my heritage thus I don't care.

Although I did find it funny when I saw a group of people dressed as feminine hygiene products to celebrate Charlie who was caught taking about wanting to be one in that wire tapping scandal a few years ago so maybe the coronation is it worth it after all. lol

I dont understand this idea in the West that it's shameful or bad to be proud of our traditions.
They are our Heritage and part of our history.

My idea of British hertiage and culture is not a royal family so high on a pedastal that they are disconnected to me and mine. It's banter in the pub, it's seeing Landan Town's amazing music scene, it's eating fish and chips rather than Maccy D's, it's going to Burn's Night to listen to my Scottish mates horrible poetry, it's singing Show Me The Way To Go Home with my mates after a night out etc.

@jump I get that, although I'm getting a little long in the tooth now for the pub/club scene
(I've had way to many heavy sessions and fights for it too be fun at my age lol).
Much happier staying in chilling with the wife and playing games/watching movies after some 420.

I'm not a massive royalist but it's nice to have a nationwide event that can help close the current divide, who doesn't enjoy an extra bank holiday after all.

They are the same as any other celebrity or sport person to me, way over paid for what they do so I've enjoyed the spectacle

Before the thread gets closed, I'll just take the opportunity to say that if I'm celebrating anything this weekend, it's the results of the recent local elections. **** the *o*i*s!

Fully agreed. This coronation would be a farce any time, but during these current times, imagine all the resources being wasted on this bollocks being used to actually help all the people struggling in this country instead.

C'mon guys keep it nice, it doesn't matter your views on the Royals this should be a joyful occasion as its a showcase of our Culture.

There's plenty of things that really annoy me about the royals (and all of Celebrity culture tbh) but that doesn't stop me watching them do their job and enjoying it.

@Pizzamorg In London with events likes these the police are actually harder on homeless people for sake of the tourists and cameras. You'd think if they want homeless people to not be "in the way" they could set up like a fancy homeless shelter for the day but nope, they get arrested or shooed away.

Sad to see the enshrinement and glorification of colonization and imperialism. This is a day of mourning for many.

In any case this is a sad day for the Sex Pistols as a lot less people will want to use God Save The Queen and they will go through economic hardship with the loss of royalties.

Honestly, in my opinion it's a massive waste of time and money.
