How ethical is pigeon milk? I've developed quite a taste for it, it seems.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

@gcunit
Only if you milk the pigeon yourself

@Rambler The place I go though, they take care of that, they might not like it if I tried to interfere.

Hmm, in that case I would suggest another bird beginning with 'P'

I'm not sure where this is heading.
Puffin?
Pelican?
Peacock?
Penguin?
Partridge?
Parrot?
Peppershrike?

I was thinking of a wet nurse called Phoebe. I think we’ve found the solution to dairy farming effect’s on global warming as well as creating new jobs so win-win!

@gcunit the real question is, can we cheese it?

Well, if we're still talking about pigeon milk, there's no need:

Pigeon milk is a semi-solid substance somewhat like pale yellow cottage cheese. It is extremely high in protein and fat, containing higher levels than cow or human milk.

@jump @Rambler Haha, I have it the other way around, I like my non-dairy milk (I couldn't handle milk as a kid, so I only know the taste of all the non-dairy variants) without coffee in it . Can't help it, but there is just something about coffee (also milk) I don't trust, haha.
I do like my beer pitch-black and occasionaly with hints of coffee in it, though (and no I am not talking about Guinness (sorry Irish people...), but about Imperial Stouts, preferbaly Russian Imperial Stouts. And yes, I know those beers also need a lot of resources to make, so I don't drink that often, which is a good thing because those beers hit hard, haha).

@Rambler Unfortunately there are many topics within the whole debate that haven't been discussed yet. Consumption of animals is one of them. And thanks, I didn't know the word harang before, but I like to think about it in the same way. I am mostly a vegetarian (I will eat fish or meat when someone has cooked a meal for me without them knowing my preferences or is about to throw it away otherwise or when the local rangers need to shoot deers for "necessary" depopulation, which is another discussion I will not elaborate on right now, haha) and will not pro-actively harang others about their eating habits/preferences (only when it is really bad in my opinion), but when asked I will give my honest opinion without any niceties sprinkled on top, haha, and will whenever I can always point people to movies/series such as "Everything with David Attenborough's voice in it", "Seaspiracy", "Cowspiracy", "Kiss the ground", but also "Bee Movie", "Happy Feet", "Ferngully", for I think the state of the world's biodiversity is alarming and very closely entangled with the complete food chain (so not just about animal consumption).

@Princess_Lilly Yeah, it is a real shame, isn't it...even more so when people are being ignorant about their comfort or talk about how they deserve it more than others.

@skywake Haha sorry, I do tend to write a bit much from time to time (though it is only a very small fraction of the stuff I could be saying about this, but to be honest, I prefer to do that in a real-life (constructive) dialogue while strolling in nature or having a glass of beer or whiskey or something like that).
And sorry for being a bit cheeky here (I mean this is in a good way), but not reading my wall of text is a bit in line with or even an analogy for my focus on behaviour and (in this case) technology. Maybe there will be technology eventually that will prevent people from not reading texts before reacting or maybe people can just change their behaviour and read a text before reacting? Either way is okay with me, I just hope it will happen sooner than later
And I totally get your focus on technology (and especially from your discourse) and I hope development and innovation will sky-rocket sooner than later for the best of the whole world (I am still waiting for something like those capsules from Dragon Ball Z that contain nutrients or even a whole house or spaceship), but again my discourse is more one of education and philosophy, so I think I can contribute the most by focusing on those things. Me becoming slightly philosophical was merely to show you a little bit of my world and where I am coming from.
Funny thing is that I had a dream last week where each and everyone in the world had to pick one discipline (technology, politics, philosophy et cetera) they thought would contribute the best to a better world and everyone would enter this huge competition to solve all the worlds problems. Lots of nice stuff happened afterwards and then I woke up, so I don't know how that world ended, but it was pleasant to see so much energy and effort put into making a better world .

@gcunit Hahaha, I just replied to a comment from my mailbox from a few days ago, so I hadn't seen the last few comments yet while writing this small essay and my brain really needed to shift gears the moment I posted my comment and ended up seeing these comments, haha .

My only questions are (joking on one hand, but at the same time curious, for I didn't know pigeon milk was a thing): "Do pigeons give milk?", "How many pigeons do you need to milk to create a product?" and "What is in it for the pigeons?"

@Definitely-Not-Leon just as long as we agree only milk, baileys and whiskey are acceptable in coffee or having it black is okay and if you put syrups, marshmallows, whip cream, a 99 flake etc in it you’re bloody mad and asking for diabetes!

@jump Agreed (as long as you take away the coffee in all those examples, haha, just kidding).
@EaglyBird Also agreed, but (and I mean this in a sad way) totally in line with our dying livable world...

@EaglyBird That’s alright then. Do you think we’ll all die the same way or will some die more painfully than others?

Rossoverde

Definitely-Not-Leon

@EaglyBird You are right, I also tried to emphasize that by saying “dying livable world”, and moreover, with humans probably a lot of other species… And I know, Mother Gaia’s history has faced quite a lot of massive, nearly complete, extinctions of life already and life has always returned so far, but for me “dying livable world” is more about human and animal and floral environments that are collapsing in the here and now at a rapid rate (think of the loss of sweet water and biodiversity threatening the overall food production, melting of icescapes, destruction of forests, land being threated by the rising sea-level, deepsea mining destroying the underwater world, big companies dumping chemicals in rivers killing all life in it, et cetera).

In short, to be honest, I don’t really care if the whole of humanity is erased from the face of the Earth due to some kind of disaster…I just can’t stand humanity knowing about a lot of crazy stuff that is going on in the here and now (stuff I think we could do at least something about individually and collectively) and completely ignoring these things due to living too comfortably and being afraid to loose even the tiniest bit of comfort (something in line with what @Princess_Lilly said earlier).

The idealist in me just hopes that we as the people can unite and will sooner rather than later start protecting that livable world from dying out .

@EaglyBird Interesting view and maybe the most plausible one I have heard in a while.
And I totally see now why you are representing Other Barry (other than your coincidental similarities regarding your names), for he could easily survive something like that (as long as Archer is not involved of course, haha).

The effects of climate change pose a dangerous future that we should prevent, yet a lot of people don’t believe it’s real for some reason.

I hear people say “it’s a hoax because you can’t predict that far into the future!” Which is not a good arguement. As they don’t need to look 50 years into the future to the the effects, you can look at the effects in the present right here and right now.

@EaglyBird Hmmm, I am not sure it is too cynical, my comment about the plausibility of you view was not meant in a sarcastic way...unfortunately. Although I hope it to be vastly different (that people will change their behaviour for the good of the whole world), it does look from time to time like we are working towards Einsteins remark that the next World War will be fought with sticks and stones...

And what...I didn't know Archer's new season has dropped yet...and you are right, though the world looks like the original relationship between Barry and Archier, I hope the world would be more like the later relationship between Barry and Archer one day .

@EaglyBird so we'll all have cool cars like Mad Max in the future... I'm kinda of okay with that.

This is brilliant! 32 countries are being taken to court over non-action against global warming arguing it’s against human rights since you can’t live on a scorched planet. I hope they win or at least draw enough attention so people can get an actual understanding of what’s going on rather than this boring stance of indifference and ignorance folk like to take.
