I just downloaded GTA San Andreas on Steam. Can you use a game controller with it? I know you can hook up an Xbox 360 controller to a PC, but does it work with Steam?
Yes, that's the only kind guaranteed to work with Steam games, in fact. Look for the words "controller enabled" next to a picture of a gamepad to see if it's compatible.
While we're on the subject, does anyone know if the Onlive Universal Controller works with Steam games?
The Xbox 360 controller is the only kind that's guaranteed to work? Good news then, I was thinking about getting one cause I like them better than PS3 controllers. I can just hook up my laptop to my TV through HDMI, and it's like I have a high-powered Steam gaming console.
If it doesn't work then you can can still map buttons to the controller.
QUEEN OF SASS
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
I use a Logitech Dual Action, but it doesn't work with all controller-enabled PC games. 360 controllers are basically the standard of PC game controllers now.

How, if it doesn't work?
If the game doesn't work with a controller, you can map buttons to make it think the controller is the keyboard.

Logitech used to be the standard of PC game controllers, but I guess since the Xbox 360 is a Microsoft product, they wanted to standardize their products.
I have this 3rd-party PS3 controller made by Power A
I'm trying to find a driver so I can use it on my PC. It uses a USB port, so I figured I could just plug it in and Windows would find the driver automatically. I haven't been able to find anything that supports this controller for PC use.

But it's not an Xbox 360 controller. It's a 3rd-party controller for PS3.
And the Xbox 360 controllers automatically connect to PC's, since they're both made by Microsoft. Windows installs the drivers automatically. So Xbox 360 controller emulators are pointless.
