Topic: Butter

Some old buddies of mine and I are having a bit of an odd argument and I thought I would post it here on the forums to see if there is any input on this topic. The topic is butter. Not margerine or some odd low fat spread, but the yellow stick of fatty goodness that is used for baking and spreading on random veggies and grain products to enhance flavor. What we are arguing about is how it should be stored. 2 of us feel that it should be kept in the refrigerator(lasts longer, supposedly more sanitary) and two of us feel that it should be left at room temperature(easier to spread/cut). Any input?

Well, I don't use butter that often but when I do I always put it in the fridge and take it out for 5 or 10 minutes to soften when I need it.

Fridge. It usually melts at room temp.

I put it in the refrigerator. I never use it as spread, though. I only use it for cooking.

Fridge is obviously the better option for sanitation issue, and so that it doesn't melt completely.
When you need some butter for spreading just hack off a chunk, put it in a teacup or something, and throw it in the microwave for a bit.

Though personally, I just use Smart Balance. I find it to be more delicious than regular butter plus it's healthier.

Maybe you and your friend should argue about something like this...seeing as I have no idea how to give an opinion to your issue... Sorry...

Put it on popcorn, especially if it's movie-theater styled butter-oil stuff. Ahh, can't you just feel the blood in your veins being replaced by delicious buttery oil? I know I do...

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

Butter goes in the fridge, dude.

That is all.

@bro2dragons: i was going for the UK biscuit vs. US biscuit reference, which comes up in chat every time biscuits are mentioned, lol. though that glorious pile of deliciousness is indeed appetizing as heck (darn you, i'm starving now D: ), our biscuits are far more flexible than that. :3

Fridge, but I don't like it at all because when I was like three years old I took a bite out of a cube of butter because I thought I liked but now I won't even go near it. I hate the smell, I hate how it looks, I hate how it tastes... so, pretty much I hate butter.
