Portal Way too short for my taste, puzzles were too easy, and never liked the gameplay very much. I find the fans annoying, and the game is way too over-rated. (GamesRadar named it the best game of all time...Really, the game is 3 hours long and virtually un-re-playable due to it being a puzzle game.) . Portal 2 was better, but still on the short side and still easy.
I'd argue that it's not overrated because a game doesn't need to be long or challenging to be fun. Not telling you to like it, but others who do like it likely don't agree with your complaints.
Dead Space. Got it because of all the raving reviews saying how great and scary it is. Got it, thought it was absurdly repetitive, slow paced and boring, and was laughable in it's attempts at "horror". I could predict EVERY scare. And there literally wasn't one vent that a monster didn't pop out of, making it kind of pointless to even do it. And every single room that was supposed to be scary had flickering lights...
Forza Motorsport 3. Got reviews of 9/10 all over the bloody place. The graphics were good, sure, but the gameplay was slow and boring. I literally almost fell asleep playing it
Sonic Adventure 1. Everyone says it was the last good Sonic game, but I find it terrible. The visuals are terrible even for a Dreamcast game, the gameplay is glitched like mad (I continually get stuck in the floor when trying to run ._.), the hub worlds are almost entirely pointless, and the Big the Cat stages......... ugh.
X-Men Arcade. Incredibly over rated, imo. It's a basic beat em up, but it's basic to the point of being boring, with there being only 2-3 types of real attacks. And your powers drain your health. Some people rate this higher than TMNT4, and to those people I say: What the %@$& is wrong with you?
And most RPGs (Pokemon, Final Fantasy, Phantasy Star), but only because I find turn based combat very very boring, and I hate random encounters.
Oh yeah, and Mortal Kombat because it boils down to button combo memorization instead of skill :/

Loved Tales of Symphonia, but hated the sequel. Don't even get me started. And anyone who said FFVIII should get a congressional medal for agreeing with me. Holy crap. Like that stupid train sequence? Where you get a 20 minute tutorial, a practice round, then when you actually do it, it takes like 3 minutes, and there's no point in even trying to avoid the guards because the fights are PISS EASY and you can walk away from them undamaged. And the fact that you were in mercenary school and your final exam was storming a beach was just dumb. VIII killed my interest in Final Fantasy games, and tainted me towards JRPGs for the rest of my life. Also, Final Fantasy X is a runner up. Hated it. And Wakka was just the Jar Jar-esque icing on the cake. Everyone knows how I feel about the first Assassin's Creed. And, my favorite dislike would be Mass Effect. Everything about it reeked. I literally thought it killed part of my humanity and had to skim some lewd photos just to see if I still reacted to them. It took a while, but I defibrilated that dead part of my soul. I still get mad every time some Mass Effect fanboy brings it up as some kind of monolith of quality for western RPGs. The cover system was broken, 45 minutes of aimlessly wandering around in an embassy with little direction on who to talk to and ending up hearing the life stories of every uncreatively-designed alien in the galaxy, and my char's crew cut with the misaligned texture on the back of his neck just rubbed me the wrong way. Can't get why nobody else EVER agrees with me

I'd like to extend my Half-Life 2 nomination to every game made by Valve except Portal and Portal 2. Half-Life, Counterstrike, Left4Dead, Team Fortress 2, they all bored me, frustrated me, and ultimately required me to quit for various reasons. Valve just isn't my kind of developer.

You can agree with a complaint and still think the game is good overall. I'm just saying I don't think the Portal fans would agree in this case, or at least wouldn't see them as problems.

I'd argue that Dead Space was never a horror game to begin with, but an atmospheric Action-Adventure game. At least that's what they came out with. Like Resi 4 with more atmosphere and a better story. Also what reviews were you reading? I recall the reviews I read saying it wasn't scary at all.:/
Gears of War- Never understood what was so great about this over most other games on the system. Controls feel like your moving a fast tank, guns are useless, graphics are ugly, forgettable music, do I dare go on?
Bioshock- Overrated. Way to bore me to tears... Not even getting trophies for this game is worth it.
Battlefield Bad Company 2- Unfunny, dull, repetitive. Better than Modern Warfare 2? Nope.
Any Dynasty Warriors/ Samurai Warriors- None of the games in this series never really amounted to anything above average, but my older brother used to be obsessed with them when growing up and looking back on it, they're a bunch of crap.
Street Fighter/ Soulcaliber- Nothing like cornering me and draining my health like a pro.
God of War- I never liked hack 'n slash games and this is one's an overrated, disappointment.
Rock Band/ Guitar Hero- I hated these games. It was all fun and games until A] There were too many of them B] They started utilizing each other's ideas. Guitar Hero using drums and vocals? It's GUITAR Hero, not Guitar Hero plus drums and vocals... Oh and the drums are terrible by the way. Nothing like hearing absurd plastic banging in the background of a great song...

This is about games that YOU think are good, even though you don't really like them. Just for future reference. To be fair, outside of maybe 2 people, everyone else has been fully on-topic so far.

I agree the story might be better than RE4, but the atmoshere most certainly isn't. Even if you call it an atmospheric action adventure game, the atmosphere isn't there for me, and the game is repetitive and tiresome regardless. And you could argue RE4 is repetitive as well, but there's something about Dead Space. Repetitive games usually don't bother me, but DS just bores me soooooooooo much with it :/

I think the games I called over rated are good in some aspect, just not as good as everyone thinks. The games I named are all technically good games, I just hate all of them. Well, except Xmen. That game is decent.

I find them to be good games in their own right and if you dont like the term "overrated" then well that sounds more like a personal problem. The games I listed I found to be overrated AND good.

I disagree, I've tried many of the games with similar play styles, and none of them were as well sound as the Gears of War series. It especially has better setpieces than most. If you know a better one, though, feel free to tell me.

Advnace Wars DS. it's a good game and all but the campaign is SO HARD. Just, rage inducing.
D: You're talking about Days of Ruin, I presume? Dual Strike actually had an easy campaign compared to other Advance Wars games... In any case, practice makes perfect. Advance Wars is the type of game where the only way to get good at it is to keep playing and find your strategies and preferences.
