I currently have a pair of Avias that are beginning to wear out. I've had them over a year, and they are very comfortable. The new par of shoes that I buy must be durable and long-lasting.
What brands do you recommend?
Brands I have owned: Adidas New Balance Avia Reebok Champion
I don't want to spend over $60 on shoes, so that narrows my choices...
how much shopping do you really do? You just missed out if you have a Kohl's in your area — last week we marked down the most ungodly buttload of shoes i have ever marked down, and i scored a sixty dollar pair of pretty nice Avias myself for five bucks. If you don't want to spend that much on things, make a list of the stores the kinds of shoes you want are at and just watch for sales, sign up for e-mail newsletters (a lot of times they'll give coupons and stuff you can print out via e-mail), and just keep your eye out for a good upcoming deal.
as for serious brand recommendation, though, i've really never gone wrong with New Balance.

i got a curse with shoes. they wear very fast, even my 100$ pair. geez. i paid 25 $ for a cheap pair, and it lasted longer than those 100$ nike shoes! i tried many too. So far, weekenders did a great job, i got 1 pair that lasted me nearly a year so far. cost me 55$. everything else i tried just breaks fast, especially back where the heel is.
ill take note of these. i got about the same budget for shoes. Im sick to get 2 pairs a year. I have a pair of caterpillar boots, bought them 8 years ago and theyre still fine. theyre dirty and ugly, but still last every exterior work i need to do around the house. 8 years !!! but they cost me around 200 bucks, with iron cap and all. never walk with this in winter (in quebec, its damn cold) as for sole, i get those Dr Scholls Gel soles. confortable, i kept mine for 2 years before it was too flat.

I actually just bought a pair of Dr, Scholls shoes from Walmart. They were on sale for $19. They are comfortable, I'm just concerned about the quality, since they are from Walmart...
And just for advice, don't buy Starter. They're a Walmart brand and they wear out very quickly.
