I've considered watching bits of HxH 1999 for comparison, because I see so many flame wars between fans on the ep discussions whenever I log an episode of HxH 2011 into MAL.

Ok, so I've seen 20 episodes of kill la kill now, almost done. Man this anime gets intense. Absolutely loving it right now. I have no idea how the studio's going to come up with something even more ridiculous than this and TTGL.
Has anyone here read Brody's Ghost? The author, Mark Crilley, does tutorial videos on youtube. I found him a while back in 2007. I like the guy's videos but never really cared for his actual manga's. Brody's Ghost looks much better than his previous work at least and it's published by Dark Horse.
Speaking of which, I know there aren't many being made anymore, but does anyone know about any good Original English Manga? Obviously it's not manga in the regular sense, but is manga inspired.

Like i mentioned there's Brody's Ghost. It's the only really recent one that's still going that I can think of off the top of my head. The art is definitely good, but I can't comment on the story. Miki Falls is Crilley's previous work but that one was very MEH IMO.
Another one that comes to mind is Rona. It's a beautiful fantasy world kinda reminiscent of Final Fantasy. The artwork is great and it's character driven with an intriguing plot. Or it was supposed to be. Unfortunately, the artist died a few years back. only one issue has been released and as of now there's no plans for more because of personal reasons. It's very tragic that it had to end that way.
EDIT: oh wow. Looks like after a nearly 2 year hiatus the guy has chosen a new artist. Huh, interested to see where this goes now.
Well since Studio Trigger atm has very few works, I decided now that I'd seen Kill la Kill I should look at some of their other work. So on Crunchyroll I just watched Little Witch Academia...and it blew me away. Seriously, that was beautiful, I loved every second of it. I'd love to see a full fledged movie made out of this thing, it was gorgeous, had memorable characters, a fun plot, and just a wonderful charm to it. I can't wait for the sequel now!

COMPLETELY forgot to mention Night School: The Weirm Books. The artwork is beautiful.

Nice, I'll have to look into those. I looked into it and Megatokyo is also supposed to be good.
Since each episode is only 2 and a half minutes I figured "Why not" and watched the first episode of Inferno Cop, since that's the one Trigger animation I haven't seen now. It caught me completely off guard. What struck me first was how horribly cheap the animation was, it was awful. It should be noted, I wasn't watching this with subtitles. Then about halfway through when Inferno Cop himself shows up...I just burst out laughing as he shot every criminal who each burst into flames in the most stupid way possible. And then the ending...the whole thing was so stupid! Then I watched it with subtitles, and I was laughing the entire two minutes. This is just...so incredibly stupid, it's hilarious! XD

Dream Hunter Rem III - This one was another hour long story, and it was the best one of them all, IMO (then again, I do like the feudal Japanese theme). Again, if you liked the previous ones, you'll like this one, but if not, this one won't change your mind. In terms of content, this was the most violent one since the second story of the first OVA (the villain this time around has a thing for decapitations), and unlike the others, this one doesn't have any fanservice.
Kirby: Right Back at Ya! - Episodes 8 & 9 tonight! These two episodes were par for the course, but that's fine as the show is generally funny & cute.

Switch - Blade Strangers

I dunno if this qualifies as Western manga or not, but minus is really great. It's inspired by Japanese supernatural horror manga, in that it's not shocking or gory, but still thought provoking and a little unsettling.
always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
Wow. I know that entire episode 21intro was fan service but that legitimately annoyed me a bit. Oh well. Still really good series. These fights are awesome.
New Dream Hunter Rem - Despite the "New" in the name, this is a continuation, rather than a reboot. Same type of content as the first three, so if you've made it this far, you'd probably be willing to watch this.
Kirby: Right Back at Ya! - Episode 10 tonight. Same old, same old (not that that's a bad thing).

Read the newest chapter of History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi earlier!
Kenichi has started to fight Yomi's leader, and while they were evenly matched at first, Yomi's leader has resorted to using techniques that allow him to re-allocate power from certain limbs to other limbs, wildly changing his attack & defense power necessary for each manoeuvre, overpowering Kenichi. What will happen!?

I thought this was pretty cool, but yesterday when I watched two more episodes of Magi I got to see the second opening. I really like it, and I felt like it was rather familiar, the voice anyway not the song. As a matter of fact, it reminded me most of my favorite FMA opening, Melissa, the first one.
And so it turns out, they're both done by the same artist, Porno Grafitti. Pretty cool.
Both songs have this kinda timeless, but nostalgic feeling to them IMO, and I just love them both.
Just rereading Zettai Karen Children (need to prepare for the final arc that's hitting this summer, and also because I never get bored of reading it no matter how many times I've read ). I'm also going to try to watch Kill La Kill and some other shows that are going to be out this month.
