Being Seinen/Shonen has absolutely nothing to do with the subject matter. It's about the target audience.
E.G. Death Note is Shonen; K-On! is Seinen.

Right.
He probably means "fighting shonen". You know, what DBZ, Naruto and the like tend to be known as.

Toonami Saturday night!

DBZ Kai - Missed first half. Holy cow! We're already deep into the Nappa fight!? Man Kai moves fast...

Kill la Kill - I can see this is going to be a lot like Gurren Lagann (as in, pure unadulterated over the top action, all the time). Looks to be a fun time.

Naruto Shippuden - Here we have the end of the arc. Sai looks like he's really opening up to having friends.

InuYasha: the Final Act - Naraku has finally succeeded in felling Kikyo, though this time she got to pass on good terms with InuYasha, which is all she ever really wanted. Koga also departed from the scene, as without his jewel shards he realized he'd only be holding everyone back on the combat front, and after learning all about Kikyo, he realized he was never even in the picture as far as Kagome is concerned. Also, after venturing into the Underworld, Sesshomaru managed to increase the power of Tenseiga, albiet at the cost of Rin's life. After showing dismay at the thought of losing a companion (and a human one at that) however, his mother rewarded him by restoring Rin's life (though only this once).

Gurren Lagann - We got to see what Yoko has been up to the past year, and how she was once again called to battle. With Simon now freed, the real fight begins!

One Piece - Fights with CP-9 members everywhere! Zoro & Usopp find themselves stuck together (limiting their combat abilities), Nami gets the slip on the Kabuki guy (thanks to help from Chopper), and Sanji holds back against his female opponent (getting himself beat to an inch of his life). Nami is about to face off against his assailant however, and she won't have to hold back!

@Melkac
I love JoJo and HxH, but I still prefer One Piece (in manga form) to them by a mile. IMO there's so much more heart into it than any other manga I've read.

As for the Anime... well we can blame Toei for it's poor quality.

Kill la Kill and Gurren Lagann are two of my favorites!
They definitely have their similarities but they have their own identities as well.

Time for a Bleach update! (it's been 3 weeks since the last time I updated, so this'll be more of a summary, than word for word reconstructions)

Even more of the Captains & Vizoreds show up at Uehara's location (with the intent of providing Ichigo's group with reinforcements, if they get the chance). They do a whole heck of a lot of friendly bickering & the like (presumably because this may be the last time we get to see them doing this kind of stuff?).

Ichigo's group arrives at Juhabach's location, only to find out that he has already stabbed the Soul King. Ichigo tries to pull the sword out, but instead the sword takes control of his arm & forces Ichigo himself to cut the Soul King in half.

Juhabach explains that his sword awakened the hatred Ichigo's Quincy blood (and all Quincy blood) has for the Soul King, which is why that resulted.

Once he had regained control of himself, Ichigo tried to attack Juhabach, but to no avail. Juhabach once again explained he has the power of "A" (the almighty), that not only allows him to see the future, but also grants him dominion over his opponent's abilities, meaning resistance is futile.

During his longwinded explanation, Yoruichi ensared Juhabach in a trap, in order to give Orihime the chance she needed to restore the Soul King to his previous state with her powers, but they were not effective (and neither was Yoruichi's trap, apparently).

Without the Soul King there to hold the balance of spiritual powers in check, massive earthquakes start to rip Soul Society, Hueco Mundo, & the Living World assunder (with shots of the Captains & Ichigo's sisters reacting to the destruction of their respective worlds).

Spoiler free version: Ichigo has finally met up with the big bad, and some serious s*** is starting to go down.

Toonami Saturday night!

DBZ Kai - Missed it.

Kill la Kill - Missed first half or so. Caught the crazy tennis match. Good, over the top, fun.

Naruto Shippuden - Seeing Sai try to "fit in" was actually pretty funny. Anyhow, it looks like there may be a way for Naruto to dramatically increase his fighting power (surprise, surprise).

InuYasha: the Final Act - They ran into a random "monster of the week" type adversary, who coincidentally enough had the ability to feed on peoples' grief & sorrow. As it so happens, this is just the kind of opponent InuYasha needed to fast track his grief cycle over Kikyo's death, now he (and the group) can move on. Also, Naraku has set up their next confrontation with Kanna, which will be her last...

Gurren Lagann - Well, we now got a giant robot that's piloted by another giant robot (roboception!). It also looks like they're making their own homage to Majora's Mask, as they have to save the world from a falling moon with a creepy face!

One Piece - Franky is undergoing a cola powered (lol) brawl with the guy with the zipper for a mouth, while Nami prepares to fight with one whom Sanji lost to, and Luffy continues to close in on the big bad.

Also, they had a Valentine's Day themed show montage. (Which, while I know is silly because it's a TV show, irked me just a bit just for the InuYasha/Kikyo scene, because it's obviously not the "main" pair. I'm pretty nitpicky about that stuff, for any series, for whatever reason)

So I started watching anime subbed with Fairy tail in mind. I want to know if its worth watching fairy tail being subbed instead of dubbed?

I thought of getting into Japanese culture more so like I decided that anime is the place to start at and I just couldn't get into manga because of the black and white image issue I have especially if I can't figure out what is going on in the mangas whenever the action shows up. Granted even black and white shows existed but since they were like animated, its easier to find out what's going on. So I decided to stick with anime.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

Yes. Fairy Tail has a good English dub, but the Japanese dub is great, and some of the characters' traits are sorta lost in translation in English.

@Artwark Comedy series that rely so much on line delivery are normally better subbed. I imagine that at least 50% of the jokes would be totally lost in a Gintama dub.

And yeah, I could never get into action manga for the same reason. I don't get much excitement out of looking at woosh lines and sound effect captions. You should still try out other manga though. Some genres are very well suited for the format.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

Fairy Tail isn't exactly a comedy, but yeah some of its jokes don't work in English largely because two of the characters weren't cast too well. (mostly Happy) Then again, I find a lot of the jokes in Fairy Tail just plain don't work in an animated format. :/ It gets better in that regard, I guess, but much like Naruto, the story, characters, and action are far bigger attractions.

Is monster worth looking? I saw episode 1 - 25 I think but it's really dragging on now... The first 10 episodes were great though.. Does it get better?

It gets great until they stopped releasing the episodes on DVD so I never saw the ending thanks Viz!!!

Azumanga Daioh is Slice of Life comedy
School Rumble is slapstick comedy
K-ON is a show about cute girls

If you a fan of any of those things, you'll probably enjoy those shows. But then again, all of them don't change too much, so you could easily watch a couple episodes of each and decide whether or not you like them yourself. Considering all of those are owned by companies that are now defunct, what have you got to loss?

Madoka's the only easy recommendation. It's only 12 episides long and really good largely because of how much it can play with your expectations. It's on Legal sites like Crunchyroll and I think maybe Daisuki and Hulu? So again, no harm in trying it. You at least gotta get through episode 3 before judging it, though.

Also, I have a friend who says I should watch K-on!, School Rumble, Azumanga Daioh, and Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Do you think I would be able to enjoy those series?

One of these is not like the others...

Though you may not know which one it is until you watch all of them until at least the end of episode 3.

Currently watching City Hunter and loving it quite a bit at the moment. Every story feels fresh and its far logical compared to most anime that I've watched. Granted, its image towards hostile women might not interest some but as a manga/anime, its really well done. I love its artstyle too as well as the show's music.

Good to see someone else enjoying City Hunter.

Now I've been watching Shinmai Maou no Keiyakusha, since I've read the first 2 volumes and found them quite enjoyable (yes, I know what goes down later in the volumes and I've seen all the volume illustrations, and my opinion of it still stands). So far the anime has been pretty decent to watch (Yuuichi Nakamura does a great job of voicing Basara and the music is ok for the most part). Although, I know lot of people are going to call the show "generic" and "bland", and I found it reasonable for them to say it without reading the light novel, or just plain out hate fanservice altogether. My complaints of the show, that some of the scenes felt rushed to me (fight scenes and the first contract comes to mind) and the censoring of the show.

I finally started watching Cardcaptor Sakura. It is made of pure fun so far, which is 90% of what I ask for in most anime. It's really good. Also does a lot of things that feel genuine where they wouldn't in other series. I tend to avoid series like this, but I know a lot of anime have tried for a similar character as Sakura, and they've always seemed really forced in my experience. Especially comedy, but here it just fits.

Really creative too. I love series where the monster of the week has to be defeated through clever thinking and taking advantage of a weakness more than brute force or general physical fighting.

@kkslider5552000 correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't cardcaptor sakura use magic as means of combat? I've seen some of its episodes back then and to me, its still combat as far as I've observed.

I'm sure there is, but there's been almost none of that 3 episodes in. Which I consider to be a good thing, as outsmarting an opponent is usually vastly more interesting.
