Currently watching City Hunter and loving it quite a bit at the moment. Every story feels fresh and its far logical compared to most anime that I've watched. Granted, its image towards hostile women might not interest some but as a manga/anime, its really well done. I love its artstyle too as well as the show's music.

Good to see someone else enjoying City Hunter.

Now I've been watching Shinmai Maou no Keiyakusha, since I've read the first 2 volumes and found them quite enjoyable (yes, I know what goes down later in the volumes and I've seen all the volume illustrations, and my opinion of it still stands). So far the anime has been pretty decent to watch (Yuuichi Nakamura does a great job of voicing Basara and the music is ok for the most part). Although, I know lot of people are going to call the show "generic" and "bland", and I found it reasonable for them to say it without reading the light novel, or just plain out hate fanservice altogether. My complaints of the show, that some of the scenes felt rushed to me (fight scenes and the first contract comes to mind) and the censoring of the show.

Actually I've started reading the manga version just recently. Not bad, but still feels like it's missing something...dunno.

Well, after a long Netflix kick, I'm back in a manga reading mood.

Picked up where I left off in Tenchi Muyo! (manga), and it's been pretty fun. Of course, once I finish, I'll relate my overall thoughts.

Detective Conan's big weakness is that it is required to focus on characters that will appear for 2-4 episodes and never again. Because episodic murder mystery. Which is probably why this recent story I watched about 2 of the recurring characters in a sort of "battle" with no focus on new characters was the most exciting thing the series has done (barring the last major plot focused story) in years.

Honestly been trying to catch up so I can get into the Crunchyroll episodes.

I saw One Piece Film Z (bolded for awesomeness) last night. It was incredible. The story and characters felt like the best part of an actual One Piece arc, Z (or should I say "Zetto"?) was one helluva character that I genuinely want to know more about (good thing there's a bunch of specials and stuff about him that I skipped before), the animation was so good, I think I finally see where Toei's animation budget has been going recently. The fights were good enough - not as great as Strong World, but writing's much stronger this time around to make up for it. If I had one complaint, it's that Z only had two lackies, so most everyone else had to fight fodder. They made it work, though, keeping the emphasis on Luffy's and Z's fight. The end battle, while oddly anti-climactic compared to other One Piece movies, actually had to be one of the best parts - It's a straight up boxing match! XD (or maybe a street fight or MMA match?) I guess I still have my main sticking point I normally do with all the One Piece movies (there's no where that they'd fit into the actual canon), but still, it doesn't feel as forced as it usually is. Overall, a very good watch for One Piece fans.

Oh, I also watched an episode of Occult Acadamy. It was okay, but I think I heard the series had a great first episode and then fumbled the rest. We'll see, though. It's a short series, and it seems like it'll pertain to my interests.

EDIT: I also kinda want to watch a comedy...not sure which one I'll choose...

Double Edit: Nope, started up Aldnoah.Zero instead. It's okay so far, but I'll have to watch more before I can say much.

@munchakoopas - It obviously needs more Chisato, Zest, and Kurumi spending more time with Basara.

Oh yeah, I forgot I finished reading the manga. I need to check out Shinmai Maou no Keiyakusha Arashi! for fanservice sake. Don't worry, once the fight between our heroes and wannabe heroes has ended, things are about to get more serious when the manga covers vol. 3 of the LN, especially with a little pinch of neotrare.

I'm scared.

Well, it looks like the anime version of Shinmai will be covering vol. 3 of the LN before the manga gets a shot at it. Just be good for crying out loud (that better be where all the budget is going to).

Not to worry, Canis. It's just the dirty old man (I hate this behind fat ugly men) + kidnapping pure maiden before mind breaking scenario combo. Also, our hero Basara pulls a netori at the end as payback.

Now I'm just disgusted. :/

BTW, I think I forgot to mention I got caught up with World Trigger recently? I left off at the end of a cool fight, but outside of that fight, the pace has been killing me. If things stay as interesting as they did for episodes 13-16, I might be able to really get into it. It's not a bad series by any means, it's just frustrating because I know it's holding the good stuff back while it sets up the plot...at a gracial pace...

It's the same problem I had with Hunter X Hunter and Fairy Tail, though, so needless to say it's probably just the growing pains of a good story more than anything else.

I'm not into Anime or Manga, but I enjoyed Ponyo and plan to eventually see My Neighbor Totoro. Is it good?

Most Studio Ghibli stuff transcends the "anime" label and are enjoyable to mainstream audiences, much like Pixar. Everybody from kids to parents to that brooding goth dude who sits at the back of the class and doesn't talk to anyone loves Pixar and Studio Ghibli.

Edit: ^ except Canis I guess

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

Actually I've never seen more than 5 minutes of Totoro, I have no idea what it's actually like outside of the beginning raining scene. I just wanted to be the one guy in the entire universe who would actually say "no".

The latest chapter of Bleach is bats*** crazy.

Soul Society, Hueco Mundo, and the Living World continue to quake with the death of the Soul King. Ichigo's friends in the living world take notice of the shaking.

Suddenly (back in Soul Society), Captain Ukitake (The sickly one with the long white hair) starts to chant, and a mass of black energy creeps up from his back, forming a giant eye.

He explains that he came down with a respiratory illness when he was three years old & that it should have killed him. However, the people of his village worshipped an arm (with an eye) that fell from the sky many years prior, as they believed it to be an arm of the Soul King, and by sacrificing his sickly lungs to it, he was kept alive (his white hair is a reminder of his disease).

Now, he sacrifices his whole body to it, so that his body may become the new vessel for the Soul King.

Meanwhile, the current Captain Commander (the one I mentioned looks like a hippie) ventures deep down to the darkest depths of Soul Society, where he called out to none other than Sosuke Aizen...

Or if you are against fan service.

I'm not exactly against fanservice, it's just that I prefer it done a certain way...ironically Kill La Kill is extremely close to getting it right most of the time, but it never really hits home with me and winds up landing in weird territory. :/

I've put a distressing amount of time of thinking into whether they did this as well as I think they did just to double check to see if I missed anything. Outside of certain scenes, I feel the series did just an insane job at doing this right. Even ignoring any controversy of it all, I just love it from a "how did the writer make this work this well?" perspective.
