Gintama has been alright so far. I'm going at it really slowly though, since I'm only on episode 15 from when I started last summer.

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

I have a few volumes of Gintama and tbh it lost me pretty quickly for comedy. I might try it again someday.

Just finished up watching some old school anime on YouTube (for the first time in months, lol).

  • New Dream Hunter Rem 2: I watched the first four entries of this series the last time I was watching stuff on YouTube, so I decided to pick up with where I left off. As a refresher, this OVA series chronicles the adventures of Rem (a "Dream Guardian") who battles demons both in the real world (using a wide assortment of modern firearms) and in the dream world (where she takes on the form of a magical sword wielding warrior). This final entry was based on the story of Frankenstein's Monster, and she finally met back up with the villain from the first episode, who was behind the whole ordeal. Overall the series was pretty decent, maybe worth a shot if you're into more supernatural stories (depending on the episode, things can get surprisingly dark though).
  • Armor Hunter Mellowlink: I watched the first two episodes of this OVA series tonight (there are twelve episodes in total), and it chronicles the adventures of a lone wolf soldier, who's taking aim at his former superiors for betraying his platoon (all except for him, they all died when they were set up as expendable decoys to distract the enemy). It has a pretty cool hook too, as each episode seems to climax with him singlehandedly taking on a mech (called AT's here) with nothing but a high power rifle and his keen battle instinct.

Armor Hunter Mellowlink is very good. It's part of the Votoms franchise, btw, if you're interested in watching more once you're done with Mellowlink. It's probably one of the few franchises that has been consistantly great from what I've seen. Very few low points. In fact, the last arc of the original series was the only part I've been disappointed with so far.

I knew Stealth Symphony was getting cancelled eventually. the whole series was a very long set-up. That kind of writing might work in the world of light novels but not in a weekly shonen magazine.

I may skip out on Toonami tonight. From what I've seen of it, AoT is a quality show & I don't mind watching it, but personally it really hasn't gripped me as anything special, and I just don't feel like watching it for a prolonged period of time (I'll probably end up watching a few episodes though).

@CanisWolfred, Sounds interesting. If I like Mellowlink I'll look up Votoms after I'm done (Well, if I can find it on YouTube).

Since I'm not into the whole Attack on Titan marathon, I just decided to get back on YouTube again tonight.

  • Twinkle Heart: This is an 80's OVA in which God has lost "Love", so he sends his daughters out on a quest to find it. They travel along in a high tech spaceship (and use other advanced gadgets/weapons), and eventually run into an evil organisation that is using the "Essence of Life" to create a killer army of stuffed animals. Needless to say, this was quite something (seriously, it featured a swarm of flying toy mice raining laser eye blasts upon the ground O_O). Also, it has that bright 80's neon colored everything going on, lol. It's only 45 minutes long, so I'd say it's worth a look just for the oddity of it all.
  • Armor Hunter Mellowlink: Watched episodes 3 & 4 tonight. I'm starting to get really into it now. It's been pretty exciting.

Well, now I do have AoT on as background noise, may watch a couple episodes before going to bed.

Alright, what do I have to do to get the One Piece anime to have the quality of the 3D2Y special?! I am unable to watch the anime due to its current pacing an animation, but dang if that special wasn't awesome.
(Can we get Madhouse to aquire One Piece or something, and do what they did to HXH?)

I know right? Well, as much as the One Piece anime sucks, there is the amazing fan project, One Pace. Basically, they trim away all filler, padding, reaction shots, recaps, etc and keep it as close to the manga as possible. This results in squashing 2-4 episodes into one to great results. They obviously do it for free. So far, they've finished the Post-Ennies Lobby Arc, Part of Thriller Bark, All of Return to Sabaody, All of Fishman Island, All of Punk Hazard, and up to the current parts of Dressrosa. They want to finish Thriller Bark and the War Saga (Sabaody, Amazon Lily, Impel Down, Marineford, Post War) at some point too. It's fantastic.

I used to be a big Naruto and One Piece fan. I would always read the manga volumes. But as I kept reading the manga volumes... both series just lost their charm. The way Naruto and Sasuke's fight ended before Shippendun began was just horrible and began the downslope of the series. I began disliking One Piece as soon as Chopper joined but I kept reading and reading until I grew disgusted.Just wayyy too many characters and the writers use the "past" as a pillow instead of using it correctly.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

Yesterday I found out that Aldnoah.Zero was originally written by Gen Urobuchi. I'm expecting half of the characters to die now.

Just finished up another retro anime session on YouTube.

  • Good Morning Althea: This one's an 80's sci-fi/mech OVA. After a 300 year war between Earth and a psychic race known as the Crest ends, a ship consisting of a mixed crew is attacked by a surprise enemy, and now the small group of survivors must put thier differences aside & make their newly forged alliance mean something in order to survive. It's nothing outstanding, but it checks off all the typical clichés in an enjoyable enough ride. It's not quite an hour long, so I'd say it's worth a look at least, especially if you're a fan of the genré.
  • Armor Hunter Mellowlink: Watched episodes 5 & 6 tonight. It continues to be an interesting watch. Got a deeper look at the story's origins tonight, followed by another confrontation with one of the bad guys.

Just started watching Pyscho Pass and I liked the first episode. so i'll keep going with it. I wonder if the Xbox One game (which is a visual novel unfortunately)ill come over to the states.

Also I've been on a Political kick lately devouring house of cards and the west wing, any Political aimed anime out there you guys recommend rather it be Contempary or in a more fantasy, Sci-fi setting.

WAT!

Hey check out my awesome new youtube channel shingi70 where I update weekly on the latest gaming and comic news form a level headed perspective.

TheKingOfTown

@shingi I guess you could say Code Geass is a political-oriented anime. That's all I can think of at the moment

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

Anime tends to stay away from politics, for better or for worse. I can think of a few that stood out, though:

Orguss 02 - This is technically a mecha series, but IIRC, the robots only show up for a few short scenes, with most of the 6 episodes focused on the dealings of the main ruling family. Probably your best bet, especially if you want a quick fix.

Legend of Galactic Heroes - This one is probably the most like what you're thinking of, if you don't mind the length.

I can name a bunch more if you don't mind shows where the political drama is more in the backround, like Code Geass.

@Blast from chapter 1 it was mention that luffy wants 10 crew members and well at least in One Piece they respect the past and not change it entirely every few chapters like in Naruto...

Legend of the Galactic Heroes is probably what you're looking for. It's long and it's old, but it's a legendary show.
