@TysonOfTime Well you can always check out the manga when the anime ends. If they have any plans of ever continuing it wont be for 2-3 years. I can also see it returning within a year if they pace the show 1:1 with the manga.
I'm currently reading the Dark Continent arc as I have a WSJ subscription
So once the anime ends I'll be all caught up.
Btw, I caught up with Akame ga Kill! yesterday and immediately regretted it. There's are so many disturbing characters in it and the gore is just too much. The manga is even more worse (obviously they had to tone it down in order to air the series on television but still..).
The Chimera Ant Arc was just incredible, it's been over a month since I finished it now, and I can't get it out of my head. It's the greatest battle shounen arc of all time (that I've seen at least) IMO.
The character development, the complex plot, the gray morality, and the strong and resonant themes all elevate it to that spot imo. Meruem also is quite possibly the best shounen villain ever. (Out of what I've seen lol)

Even though I just stated I think Meruem is probably the greatest shounen villain, the Royal Guard are real feats of great character development and storylines as well. Youpi, Pitou, and Pouf all change from where they were at the start of the arc. Come to think of it, most characters who entered the arc aren't the same people when they leave.
Also, might I ask, what do you mean about too serious? Did you want it to be less dark? I think there is definitely a place for more light-hearted arcs in HxH (while they still contain some dark parts) I think lightening the Chimera Ant Arc would have lessened it's impact considerably, Togashi clearly was full of ambition, and sought to tackle several themes far beyond the realms of standard shounen, asking us to look at humanity and examine both its good, and evil, and realize that humanity can't have one without the other. Humans are capable of great acts of empathy and love, shown through Komugi and Meruem's relationship, characters like Knuckle and Morel who constantly show compassion, those willing to sacrifice themselves for those they care for, and they also show the depths of humanity's capacity for evil through Gon's selfishness and casting his own blame onto another, Netero's selfishness as well, and the limitless ways humans are cruel to each other daily, on the small and massive scale. We need to accept both of these as part of being human, and individuals. I'm probably not describing it nearly as well as someone else could, but I think you get my point. At the same time, if it just doesn't suit your tastes that's fine too. I just adore how much more thoughtful and meaningful it was then the standard shounen, even then some of the very best shounen/

I like the Chimera Ant arc because it slowly starts to pull away from the idea that Gon is this imbodiment of goodness. All the hints about him being 'dangerous' start to actually make semse.
It also takes a lot of focus off of him, which I don't actually mind. The other characters are equally compelling to me. After all, my favorite parts of the Yorknew Arc were the parts with Kurapika. (Though with the anime ending before the next arc it looks like we won't see him again...)
It's just a personal thing, but good comedy is frequently important for me. It provides balance so that the dark stuff has that much more impact. I understand why there wasn't a lot of it, but there were a few places they could've had some comedic stuff, especially early on. But that's just me.
Looks like the first chapter of the High School arc is going have 31 pages.
Staring from left to right: Yuri (new member of the group), Aoi, Minamoto, Karou, and Shiho. Getting to see the girls all grown up and mature is going to be astonishing.
Thanks to Funimation... I've been watching... Hatchin and Michiko which is sooooooo good to me. Full Metal Panic which is also good to me. Hero Tales which is getting boring because the writing is sooooo poor.
I just started Hunter x Hunter. The blonde dude's voice is really annoying me, I thought he was a girl at first. -_-
But so far, it's pretty entertaining. I'm currently on episode 6.
I also recently started Psycho-Pass, which is pretty damn entertaining too. Currently on episode 8 with that one.
Hunter X Hunter: I know right? I thought he was actually an female (Because of that voice,) In total, the series is good. I also only watched Episode 1 so far.
I'm really glad that Hunter X Hunter (Well, up till episode 100) was put on Netflix. (I expect them to put the rest up when the show ends in 5 weeks ;_; ) Though who actually put it up there, I wish I knew. Aniplex? I'd hate it if they had such a long show like HxH (sooo expensive but I wound't mind Funimation, Viz, or Sentai.

That...is actually a very good question. o_O I think maybe Netflix themselves got the rights to it, but that's only speculation.
decided to get back into gintama, picked up the anime from where I left and started the manga to remeber the characters(it's faster than watching over 180 episodes again )
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

It's also funny how Crunchyroll had more episodes than netflix had on Hunter X Hunter.......
Hmm, for the longest time, ever since I started the show, I wondered why it hadn't been picked up by a major company over here in the US, especially considering it's such a big series with a fairly large Western Fanbase at this point. Whenever I looked it up, it always seemed like most discussions of the series being licensed/dubbed were, at the most recent, from 2012 and early-mid 2013, as if people had just stopped caring about it getting licensed. this greatly surprised me, but I too must admit that I pretty much forgot about it till Netflix added it, bringing even more questions up. There used to be vague rumors of Viz obtaining the series (like it did with the 1999 series) but nothing really came to light, making Crunchyroll the exclusive, legal source. Also, if Netflix does indeed own the rights, wouldn't they advertise it as a "Netflix Original Series" like they did with Knights of Sidonia, and pull it from Crunchyroll? The whole situation seems very odd, and part of me hopes Netflix doesnt own the rights, as I'd really like to see a DVD/Bluray release with a good dub. (Unless Netflix plans to do that, then I'm fine with it)
