Just realized this a few minutes ago: Neutral Milk Hotel's classic album In the Aeroplane Over the Sea turns 15 today. If you've never heard it before, you owe it to yourself to check it out.
Pretty sure that's sarcasm. The grammy never has been an accurate or good judge of music anyway. Mainstream music now is crap for the most part. When I say crap, I mean there are basically nothing in the mainstream that is decent except maybe The Black Keys (you can argue if they are really that mainstream).

You're right for the most part. A lot of the stuff this year is pretty forgettable and weak. The Grammy's occasionally recognize quality though. Arcade Fire swept the awards in 2011 and I consider them to be a very good group. I didn't watch tonight (it might still be on, I don't know) but I know there are some great bands and artists nominated throughout. I'm fond of Jack White, The Black Keys, and Mumford and Sons. Gotye's song was a favourite of mine until it was played 24/7 everywhere. Just looking at a couple other nominees, I spotted Bruce Springsteen, Muse, and Florence and the Machine; all good stuff in my opinion.
The Grammys, like any other award show, are a popularity contest.
Either way, the song of the year to me was Drake's "Take Care" (ft. Rihanna), a much more creative and emotional track. Few rappers dare to step into this kind of emotional territory.
(and the album of the year was undeniably Frank Ocean's Channel Orange, which isn't even on the same level of the other album of the year nominees)
I thought you were talking about "Young" by Hollywood Undead...I would've **** a brick if that happened (granted I only like that song because it resonates with the angry teenager in me...it's actually not a very good song in my opinion).
I listened to "We Are Young," and threw up in my mouth a little. That was barely listenable...I feel like 5 year olds could make better songs than this by banging on some pots and pans.
Eh, the Grammys were ok for me this year. I personally enjoyed 2011 and 2012 more since I could at least see Arcade Fire sweep major awards and laugh at how Bon Iver got "Best New Artist" for his sophomore album. At least fun. took their awards with humor.
