There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

No do Kirby's Epic Yarn! It's uber easy and adorable!!!!!!!!!

Plus, it's a chick magnet. My lady friend instantly fell in love with it, even before we started playing it!

I'm back (for the moment)!

Any of the sly games(if you have a ps2)

Unfortunately games like Wii Sports Resort and Nintendogs would be the perfect way to introduce a person to gaming. Also you say you don't want her playing games like Farmville and want to get her into more mainstream stuff, well sorry to break it to you Farmville actually IS mainstream. About half my family plays it. I MEAN HALF my family, mom, cousins aunts. I'm happy to finally see gaming go mainstream (Thanks Nintendo!) I remember I can never get my mother to play Star Fox or Resident Evil with me. So it's good to finally see her burying her interests in her own little virtual world. My entire childhood she never understood why I "wasted my time" playing games, now she's "wasting hers"

It seems here you want your girlfriend to get into the games you want. You can't do that at first, especially considering games that utilize a lot of buttons. Let her slowly grasp the idea of gaming first.

If you want her to enjoy her own game alone my best recommendation is Professor Layton. It's very easy to pick up but very challenging and engaging to play. It has a deep plot and can be "beaten".

If you want to play together, I recommend playing something fun that is easy to pick up. If you really don't want her playing Wii Sports try Mario Kart or New Super Mario Bros Wii. Although those games require a little more gaming precision and she might lose interest almost immediately.

I remember one guy saying to me that "Donkey Konga and its bongos is a good way to get laid". So try that one!

Okay, seriously. I think both Ravage and Caliko nailed it. Either try with the "gateway games" like Wii Sports or just try out something that you think is fun. Personally, I made my sister into a more serious gamer when I recommended her to play Metal Gear Solid, which she loved very deeply because of the plot and characters.

MysteriousVoice

Do a Kirby game. Its fun, and should be easy for her. You could also try one of the shorter mario games, like New SMB or something

A Mysterious Voice suddenly speaks out to you....
......Whos there?

Yeah New Super Mario Bros. Wii is great. Looking at your list, Boom Blox or Galaxy wouldn't be bad, Wii-wise. Believe or not my non-gamer dad really enjoyed RUNNER when I let him play it, even though it's so hard. It's risky, but there's some magic to that game that I think could make appeal to just about anybody. There's also the chance the difficulty will crush her soul and turn her off from video games forever. I think Wii is the way to go for introducing your girlfriend to video games (co-op, relative casual-ness, social goodness), but if you have another platform in mind tell me.

Say it ain't so! Women? On the internet? Don't be silly. They're too busy making me sammiches.

I'm amused by one or two of the posts here sounding a little more like trying to train a pet than introduce someone to videogames. Shout "mario!" at her a few times, and when she recognises the word, give her a treat.

This is the most sexist post I've ever written and I hate myself.

oh noes, too many buttons~ it's not like the buttons actually do anything, or like games nowadays don't have tutorials to help you learn how to use them or anything, or -- god forbid -- the button layout, though complicated at first glance, is actually pretty intuitive once you get into it a little, hahaha.
