Topic: 2012 End of the World

Alright guys to enter my church there is a fee of 200 rupees, (Me raise prices? Never!) you must be at least level 60, a gold member of NL and pay mandatory 100 rupee offering to me and my greatness (so 200 total for offering.)

Need I elaborate more? Just so we're clear I'm not attacking religion so don't take that the wrong way.

One word: Zombies

Now a few more: Anyone ever seen the movie "Last Night"? It's on Netflix on Demand if you're interested. It's about the last few moments on earth before the world ends. The populace is already aware of the impending doom and everyone knows it's the end no matter what. There's no last-ditch effort to save the planet. It's not some sci-fi extravaganza. It's about normal people and how they live out their last few hours. A low-key flick but worth watching imho. You never even learn through the course of the movie what is causing the apocalypse (though one could infer from the last several seconds of the movie).

I think we have more to fear from Kardashians taking over the world than Zombies.
They need more brains also.

Can you imagine something like Frieza, going from planet to planet, destroying them, buying them off and selling them?

Anyways... On a serious note, remember when the world was supposed to end in 2000 and 2003? And even in the 1900s...? No one knows. The world could end tomorrow, next week, anytime- we just don't know. And with the way the world is now, I'm surprised the Earth hasn't blown up or something from the abuse.

Scientists have been talking about the discovery of another planet recently that's similar to Earth.
Good temperature and conditions to sustain life and everything.
Maybe we could all go live there. There might even already be some form of life already living there.
Wouldn't that just blow our minds? We'll call it Earth 2 and start building colonies and claim it for our own.

You do know that pretty much everyone here is joking about this right? No one really thinks the world is going to end in a specific year or on a specific date. The world will end when we least expect it. It could be caused by a giant asteroid, a solar flare, the sun burning out / exploding, the moon shifting it's orbit (causing global flooding), etc.

Then get a wrecking ball.

I assume you ask because of the Mayan long count calendar ends on the 21st of December. This is akin to a future generation finding our calendar and freaking out because it ends on December 31st. What most people don't realize due to a media fear mongering is that the Mayans actually had 19 different calendars. Only three of them end on that specific date. All others continue as normal. The long count calendar only ends because it marks the end of a cycle. The cycle is our solar system traveling within the universe. They were incredible astronomers. The fact that they could accurately predict this fact is incredibly remarkable. Of course, there wasn't much else to do at night, and for anyone of you that has ever been near the equator and many, many miles away from artificial light, I'm sure you can attest that the sky looks very different an night. It is breath taking. You can easily see planets. The amount of visible stars are multiplied a million fold. There is a sense of peace you can attain by gazing upon that night sky. Instead of feeling alone in it's vastness, you feel in the company of all that ever was and will be. If you still feel freaked out, just know that you could go at any day and use that as a motivation to transform your life. Steve Jobs once said that his greatest motivator in life was the knowledge that he would be dead soon. He used this as the spark to make great things happen. You can too. Don't worry about December 21st. Nothing will happen. However, as the Hopi Indians say, "If tomorrow you wake up and the sun doesn't rise, lock your doors and shutter your windows. And if someone knocks at your door on that day, don't answer it..."
