Scenario 2 (from a scientist): As you can see, a very large object that we presume to be an asteroid will collide with the moon, causing a massive shift in orbit. The moon may or may not crash into the Earth if this happens, but I can assure you that we are all in grave danger. Another possibility is that the Earth is struck by a giant solar flare, which will evaporate our atmosphere and burn up our entire planet. There is nothing we can do to stop this, so we should just all give up hope.

First of all, Jesus said that no one, not even the angels in Heaven, know when the end is near except the Father. The End of Days is supposed to come when we least expect it, which would be in the middle of peace. With all the things going on right now, I don't think it's coming for a long, long time.
But who are we to say when it comes? You can die today. You might die years from now. We all have to die at some point, and so you better enjoy life while you've got it.
Who knows, maybe the Mayans just ran out of room on their giant stone calendar? I'm not going to expect any demons, aliens, or zombies running around my backyard. We've gotten this far with DoomsDay predictions in the past. Remember Y2K? I won't expect much of anything except a bunch of unfortunate suicides.
While you are right about only God truly knowing about doomsday and it coming when we least expect it, the chance of there ever being peace is about zero, so the great evil thing seems the most likely event. Besides, I wouldn't miss the world anyway.

The sun will run out of energy and die. When this happens, the sun will either: A) increase greatly in size, engulfing Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars, before exploding into a supernova B) shrink to the size of a dwarf star, leaving our planets to freeze in the blackness of space
