Well, that's it for this round. And the two teams that win all 3 of their games are Argentina and.... The Netherlands? I personally wasn't expecting that, but maybe I just haven't been paying enough attention....

Just to clarify, I was paying attention to the World Cup itself, so I know that the Netherlands was doing quite well. I just didn't pay attention to anything that happened before the World Cup, so if there was anything that happened before that that indicated how good they were, I missed it. I don't know which you meant, so I wanted to clarify.

Uruguay v South Korea + United States v Ghana = Uruguay v United States Germany v England + Argentina v Mexico = England v Argentina Netherlands v Slovakia + Brazil v Chile = Netherlands v Brazil Paraguay v Japan + Spain v Portugal = Japan + Spain
My predictions for the final 8. Admittedly, my England pick is a lil biased. Also, whilst I'll be cheering Ghana on today (must support the only remaining African nation) I feel the US will edge it.
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
@Adam: I want the US to go as far as possible so it's population sits up and takes notice (though if that didn't happen after the last match then it probably never will). I also want Ghana to win so as to keep the host fans interested in the tournament. I'll backtrack, and just say I'm neutral, k.
@Aviator: The matches above are listed in the order they will be played.
I know I'm biased, but I at least hope that Japan beats Paraguay. Everyone here in Japan is so excited for Japan to make it this far, and they've never made it into the top 8 before, so if they could at least do that, I would be SO happy.

Honestly, Machu, I think it would take getting to the finals, maybe semi-finals, for that to happen. From what I hear though, national interest is higher than usual this year. I don't think making it to a round of sixteen sounds impressive when we're used to only national sports where getting to the top sixteen might mean being better than only half the league.
MAH PREDICTIONS! Uruguay v South Korea + United States v Ghana = South Korea v Ghana Germany v England + Argentina v Mexico = Germany v Argentina Netherlands v Slovakia + Brazil v Chile = Netherlands v Brazil Paraguay v Japan + Spain v Portugal = Paraguay v Portugal

Check their qualifying campion they won all their games while conceding only 2 goals (however one could argue that it was the weakest group)

Haha OK. Like I said, I didn't pay attention to any qualifying rounds or anything, so yes, your original thought was right. I just wasn't sure whether you meant paying attention during the World Cup or paying attention to soccer (football.....) as a whole, the latter of which I definetely was NOT doing.

South Korean goalkeeper made a booboo, quite a shocking one too. Now, I'm cheering the Koreans on, in the hope we get a game out of this.
And while I'm here, I'd like to state my desire to see NO penalty shoot-outs during these knock-out stages, especially tomorrow at Bloemfontein, my nerves can't take it, not again. D:
The South Korean keeper should have definitely done better, but one defender pointed to the back post attacker stating that he was marking him seconds before the cross, and then left him alone for the finish. The South Koreans just had a defensive lapse which may cost them the game. I like how S. Korea is attacking though, they may be due for a goal in the final 20minutes.

The news though that Germany's Cacau is injured makes me feel a bit more easy. It's a real shame that this happened, he must be really disappointed but this can only help us tomorrow
Its no problem there is Klose,Podolski and much more.
