@Dan0753 The two examples you've cited were both closed due to duplication issues. So there's your first 'depends' - if you've got something to say that fits within an active thread, don't start a new thread.

If you've got something to say about a particular game, run a search for that game and if you find an existing thread specific to that game, use that one, regardless of recent activity.

If you want to ask people's views on which Kirby game they like the most, search for a 'best Kirby game' type thread and use that, regardless of recent activity.

If you stumble across a 'How do I transfer my 3DS SD card files' type thread that's not been posted in for 6 months, and you just want to suggest a solution, leave it alone. But if you want to ask a question that's related to something someone has said in that thread, then it could be worth reviving to give context to your question.

If you wanna ask for suggestions about which game to play next, then use an appropriate 'recommendations' thread.

If you come across an 'E3 2012' type thread, then it depends. If you've got a story to share that's worth sharing, then revive that old thread, but if you're thinking of posting 'Yeh, those lols!' or something equally worthless, please don't.

We try and take a common sense approach - if there's a rumour about the Switch then it's common sense to put it in the thread that's been actively discussing Switch rumours for the past 18+ months.

Ok we'll see how it goes from here.

You guys are still talking about this? 3 pages and it's not locked yet? Lol.

I guess it doesn't fit in the generic Nintendo Switch Thread.

I'm working with the mods and Ant (director) on updating the forum rules. I'll take suggestions now, but they need to be constructive of course. Be sure to type @TheLzDragon

@TheLZdragon like I've mentioned my biggest complaint has been closing threads out and telling us this belongs amongst the 13,000 + reply thread. Sub categories help organize topics easier. Searching for a topic is easier than searching for a post in a thread with several different conversations going on. We're all here to talk about the Switch in the grand scheme of things already.

Give posters a little slack too. If you feel a particular thread could have been better suited elsewhere mention it in a reply and move on. If the conversation carries on in that thread then let it. Are the mods here to run the forum for themselves or for the majority of the people that post in it?

Apparently the Switch at E3 can't be discussed here anymore because it is also active in the General Discussion forum. That's some nit picky stuff there. Maybe people don't surf through all of the categories?

@shaneoh I don't want to start a new thread if there's already something out there for it. It's our responsibility to do a search first. That's what they said.

And I'm saying that it looks like you're going through all the threads and commenting on them just because you're not a fan of topic consolidation.

I'm just trying to play by the rules. If a topic already exists and hasn't been "dead" for six months or so, you can't start a new one without it getting locked. I haven't been around long and there are tons of posts I'm just coming across for the first time.

Just don't revive threads just for the sake of it, please. If they're not too old, and you genuinely want to participate in them, then by all means go for it.

We won't appreciate cases of "playing by the rules sarcastically".

@Dan0753 Many of your posts have been reported as spam, because people can see what you're doing.

Your comment in the 'What if ARMS was Project Giant Robot' thread is just one example of many. You make no reference to PGR and have just made a tenuously linked comment that would have fit better on the active ARMs thread.

If you carry on we may soon be considering banning you for persistent nuisance.
