First off, I can no longer like my own comments. When I try to like my own comments it just says "So, erm, you can't like your own comments". What kind of a doesn't like his own comment? Secondly, I've been doing this shtick where every time I see an article with no comments and the phrase "Wow, no comments... why not be the first?" I quote that line and type "Don't mind if I do!" and now the moderators have started to remove this.
INB4: if you don't like what I'm doing then I'm sorry you are the way you are.
@Agriculture first of all, liking your own comments would mean every comment would have 1 like. It takes away the whole point of liking to begin with. And your “don’t mind if I do!” comment is a repetitive annoying catchphrase that I’m sure no one on this site likes. If you have nothing interesting to say, don’t say anything on the article at all.

The point is, your “conplaints” are just restraints to make the site more peaceful. So don’t you nag on the moderators for doing their job and banning your annoying comments for the sake of everyone else.

Also, even reddit allows you to add +1 to the likes on your own comment. Even reddit.

Reddit essentially functions off a system of popularity, so there's much more incentive to like your own comment/post since it would push it up higher on the feed. Reddit purposely automatically upvotes your own post by default to avoid an unfair situation where people who like their own post have an advantage over people who don't. On a website like Nintendolife, there's no real value to liking your own commenting, it's basically just a way for people to see how many people agree with you. Obviously you agree with yourself, so there's really no point in liking your own comment.
In a way liking your own comment here has a slightly negative effect, since it'll give an incorrect statistic on how many people actually agree with you. Since liking your own comment isn't done by default here, people will assume you didn't like your own comment, and think more people agree with you than they do.
It's ok to have fun every now and then, but going and swiping the first comment in multiple articles just for the sake of having that spot, without having anything of value to say, is just something the internet as a whole dislikes. And people have actually reported those comments.

Yeah I agree. I’ve done it before though so I can’t really say much. 😂 In reality, it’s just as annoying as the “first” comments on YouTube. Nobody really cares except the person writing the said comment.
