A RPG game that recently came to the 3DS after being released on other platforms, Adventure Bar Story is like any other RPG however you manage a bar and selling all sorts of food (over 400 recipes), you go out, kill anything that comes across you and then get their meats along with other things to bring back to your store to make food and level up!

I will be making a review for this game (will have a link later for you to feast on) and I plan on serving a bunch of meat from corpses of the once living...I will be revving up so much that @SheldonRandoms would be proud....thoughts of the game?

Very much considering this. I love games that combine RPG and sim elements like this. Not too thrilled about it being a phone game port but it still looks pretty fun. Glad you are reviewing this and curious as to your thoughts.

I dunno what to think of this game. I like RPG mixes, but managing a bar? Not sure. I'll wait for a review first.

I've had my eye on this one since last week, and it looks great. The IOS release seemed to get pretty good scores too..still I'm waiting for a 3DS review, so hurry up @Undead_terror!!!!! Also...looked over on RPGamer looks like there is an import review of the 3DS version, sounds like its a meaty game and pretty funny one (so long as the translation doesn't suck...). If worst comes to worst (no reviews) I'll probably grab it by Friday and see what its all about.

Alrighty, I got ABS...and played it...
WOWZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is great! A very different little JRPG! So for those wondering (and please note I haven't played a Cooking Mama game in years), Adventure Bar Story is NOT like Cooking Mama. The "cooking" is all done through menus, you get recipes, collect the supplies you need and press a few buttons and boom; food! Now you can try to make your own recipes and experiment there, but I wouldn't recommend that (especially early on) as you will loose the food you failed to combine into a (at that time) unknown recipe. Its definitely more RPG-y. The dungeons (at least the first two) aren't too big, and since you'll be visiting them a lot, this might get a bit repetitive (I haven't reached that point yet!). All the other standard tropes of a JRPG are here: companions, weapons and armor, living it a castle town and random battles are present in the dungeons. There is a neat little twist, however. You eat food to level up, yup eat and get EXP In actuality it works great! But another important piece to note; you need that same food to level up to help make your restaurant the most successful in the kingdom. Makes managing what you eat and what you sell pretty dynamic and (dare I say) fun! Don't horde all the good stuff though, or else you will make less gold and while gold (in my opinion) isn't as important in ASB as in other RPG's early on, your gonna want some.

All right and here is the TL;DR version! ASB IS NOT like Cooking Mama games. It is a RPG, fit with random battles and loot to gather. This loot is foodstuffs and using this food stuff you create food (also there is no little food minigame!!!!!! Can't stress this enough as I have a feeling that this will be a deal breaker for some! Just menus and button pressing) to sell in your bar and for use in your little party to gain EXP and level up.
Its not for everyone, but if you want a 'lite' JRPG for your 3DS, ASB is for you. If your looking for a mainly cooking game with 'very light' RPG features....I can't recommend this to you. I do hope this helps some of you guys sitting on the fence and if you do get it...bon appetit!

Anyways, this is a game I think I've heard a lot of good things about over the years, though I'm surprised to find out it's not from the guys who made "Game Dev Story" and a bazillion other "Story" games. I'll have to check it out soon. It's only $3, correct?

It's $6. I was waiting for a review but I think I'm just going to cave and buy it. This really seems like the type of game I like, so eff it. If I'm still hungering for a review at this point then I should just cave.

Thou will play a bunch of this tonight and tomorrow, hopefully will make a review tomorrow, however for right now I will give some insight for the tasting.

The the sprite work/art/music is all so lovely, when you boot the game up you got to just look at the nice detail of the work they crafted. You play as a girl who needs to collect all sorts of food from different areas, you got your main town and then different locations that you can go off for adventuring, you will find lots of food on the ground that you got to pick up and you can get food from enemies, you don't level up from killing monsters but get skill points so you can get new attacks on such, you must make food the level up so you can get stronger. The game is like a old RPG at that, you can change equipment, look at the team, and monster battles come from no where (similar to old Final Fantasy), as for cooking you can make stuff from recipes or you can make brand new stuff...however it's simply combing stuff like in Minecraft or Monster Hunter, just select whatever and select the style you want it made a boom then it's done!, sadly you cannot combine everything, there is a handful of already made recipes and many hidden ones you got to figure out for yourself!

This game is a little harder on the on-set than I expected. It's resource-management heavy, and I'm not a good investor. But I'm sticking with it. It seems interesting so far, especially since I got a good party member early by making some apple pie.

In regards to the game its a great game after putting in a little more time to it. It has a nice balance of exploration and battles. Also some restaurant Sim thrown in for good measures. My only complaint would be that the game doesn't have much of a tutorial. You will need to fool around with the game quite a while before it starts to feel like its moving smoothly. But its an RPG well worth 5.99 and I highly recommend a pick up. There are no 3d effects in the game and the graphics are on par with SNES. If your lookin for something a little off the wall though this is right up your alley.

Sorry but there's no need for personal attacks of any kind. -Morpheel

Nah I'm going to let it go at this point. Undeads got a nice thread going and did a nice review of the game. No sense in going on about it. So that's that.

No worries Undead. It really doesn't matter who posts it. At first I was a little annoyed but got over it pretty quickly and you wrote up a nice review
