hey can you do somthing like you did with the loading screen for dsi hub? can you make a flipnote saying you got mail and then a evolope opens up!

No, put it wherever you want. Or, you could do Hello, [username], you have [number] new messages

bad idea becuase i would only put people i would want to email offten in my contacts

I'm pretty sure when an XML element doesn't exist, and I tell javascript to get it's value, that it will return "null". Correct me if i'm wrong
