I was told to do this in another topic, so why not.
Looking for (objective) reasons that Gameloft is good. Every review of Gameloft I've done has been along these lines: "Go buy the retail equivilent of game X. It might cost $10 more, but the difference in quality is staggering."
I know some people like Gameloft's games, but I've yet to see a good reason why they're worth spending money for.
haha i knew you would do this Well, their DSiWare are mostly knockoffs of another games, but they certainly do the job. The fact that theyre downloadable and cheaper (even though most of them are "expensive" dsiware) than most retails adds some points. It's not like theyre the best company or the most original, but their games do entertain (just not everybody), and thats what a game is supposed to do.
Lets make a comparison list! Real Soccer (i guess both) - any yearly football game. Brain Challange - Brain Age. Pop Supertar - Sims+RockBand? Asphalt 4 - Any car racing game, seriously. Guitar rock tour - Guitar Hero/RockBand. UNO - ...................................... any other UNO videogame released, i guess. Castle of Magic - Its a mix of various platformers. MiamiNights - I have no idea what this is about to start of with. Oregon Trails - Just like UNO. Legends of Exidia - Zelda? Lets Golf! - Any golf game, i suppose. *Sport games and licensed games shouldn't count, since well, theyre based on other games/real life games.
i have bought 3 games from that list (guitar rock tour, cofm and UNO, being castle of magic the only one i reget having bought), but its not like i support them or anything, since i have no interest in any other game they have made i just wont buy them, just like i would do with any other company, nintendo included.
though i do agree with you that some of their ways seem to be very cheap
With all of these dsiware release from Gameloft its only has only a matter of time before they mess around and put out the first great game. Thats why Gameloft is good, because they will keep trying into they do hopefully....
Their current DSiWare games don't interest me, but based on the work in Oregon Trail I don't think they're a bad publisher, and shall at least consider their future releases. And some people like UNO right? Asphalt 4 sounds to be good for what it is, and to a lesser extent so do all their other games.
I have two games from Gameloft. They suck big time. Card games (Poker and Uno) with frame drops!! urk. Said it right after Poker, won´t be gettin another Gameloft game. That was before I knew they would be makin Uno, wich I already has decided to get when it came. I can´t believe someone can f**k up making a card game.. Well, Gameloft has done it at least twice. A demo of TV show king and downloadable swedish questions pack might get me puttin´it on the to get list, position 73.
Oh yes and although UNO DSiWare is a tad overpriced here, I personally love it. I'll probably get the WiiWare version eventually as well. They handled it well, IMO.
For me, they're just average. There's nothing that makes their games better or worth more than the other ones.

I like Midnight Pool actually and still have it on my SD card. I'd love to see a Motion Plus sequel. I also enjoy Wild West Guns. I don't think they're the greatest, but they do seem to put some effort into their designs and the quality of the presentation of their games. The actual gameplay seems to be where they have trouble, but I suspect that's down to the volume and limited timeframe allotted to put out games in the mobile/download space.
They're not the greatest but they could easily be a lot worse.
Gameloft put more effort on DSiWare than Nintendo even bothered to do. It says a lot, however their Apple games are far superior to anything on DSiWare and WiiWare, but that might be because of the better hardware and less moronic restrictions.
I knew this thread had to come eventually, and I knew that WaltzElf would be theone to post it. On topic, Gameloft is mediocre. The one thing they have done is to attempt to put some variety on the service. They have the first racing game, the first Sims-like game, the first RPG, the first platformer, etc. However, most of those were just average. They've yet to come out with a must-have.
Being the first, and releasing a whole lot of variety onto a service is a bit pointless if those games are crap though, surely?
I kinda liked Pop Superstar. That's it. None of the other Gameloft games have been worth playing, especially considering I have a DS cartridge slot on my DSi that plays vastly superior retail games.
Because instead of making puzzle games they attempt to add a bit of diversity to the DSiWare lineup. Any other platform I can't actually speak for.
I'd rather have 100 good puzzle games from developers like Intelligent Systems, Spike and Q Games than 100 Gameloft games. Yes, I'm a puzzle fan, but point still stands.
I personally don't think Gameloft sucks. I did hear Castle of Magic was awful, but I like that I can get Real Soccer 2010 for $8 instead of paying $50 for FIFA. Real Soccer 2010 may not be as big as FIFA, but it's still a good game for an amazing price. Also I didn't think UNO was bad a little overpriced though
