As DSMan said, it is very possible to have video playback on the DS through flash cards and the quality is pretty good. However, this really should have been included standard in the DSi especially considering they have firmware updates to block flash cards which at the moment are the only viable method of movie playback on the DS.
Video playback online: impossible, the DSi Browser is already slow Video playback: Too much work for Nintendo, since the DSi is not powerful enough to play avi-videos, Nintendo has to release a certain converter for the PC, which allows DSi owners to convert their videos to a "DSi-videoformat". This "DSi-videoformat" must be so that it doesn't require much DSi-power.
But where are you waiting for , buy an iPlayer flashcard (works on 1.4)!!!!!

Video playback online: would be possible with a specialized online DSiWare application. The homebrew video player app Tuna-viDS for DS can handle a 256x192 AVI (Xvid + MP3) at 12.5 FPS, 256x144@16 FPS so I don't see why DSi couldn't handle MPEG-4 videos with ease. But Nintendo probably don't give a damn about what the handheld can do and what we want 'cause they want to control how and what is watched on its game consoles. Yeah, buying the iPlayer is good idea because it costs only $36 if you order it from Hong Kong. It can even play YouTube videos with no conversion.

Heyy, I have acekard 2i for that stuff, but it's dissapoitning that Nintendo doesn't release an app for that... I mean, they say the DSi is a multimedia device, so they should've put it in the DSi from the beginning...
BTW, if they make the flashcards useless because everything is already on the DSi, there could be less piracy..
I think Wii no ma is a cool idea, but do we really want to watch "Shows" that only promote a company's product? The whole thing is based off marketing.
