Hey J Bitties, since you brought those games up, how are they? I've been thinking of buying them, but I looked at a YouTube video and there was alot of Japanese text. Is the language barrier really that huge, because I don't know any?
It's definitely worth the purchase and don't let the language barrier scare you away. IGN has an amazing guide for one of them, can't remember which one, it's been a while since I've needed to translate anything for the game...got everything unlocked. Anyways, what I did was write out the translations for the menus and I was pretty much good to go. It's a fighting game so the story doesn't matter. it is missioned based but the missions are usually repetitive (especially in Ultimate Stars) and you won't have to go online much after the first couple of worlds. Basically, I didn't find that I needed to be locked down in front of my computer to play it.
As for the gameplay, it's amazing. Some characters are completely unbalanced but it's still a ton of fun. Like I stated, play it more than SSMB. I also love the sheer amount of characters in each game...just an insane amount of combos/teams/assists/etc. that you can get in these games. Finally, I don't know a lick of Japanese and was able to complete both with at or around 100% completion.
