Topic: Netflix survey indicates possible move for service onto DS

Yes, as crazy as this sounds, it seems that Netflix may try to pull a "Wii no Ma" on the States, asking customers if they would like their service to be streamed via the Nintendo DS system. I thin it’s a bold step, and if they pull it off, sign me up!

Check the source link for a picture showing Netflix’s survey for their customers. I would bring it here, but it’s too small for viewing on BUZZ. What are your thoughts?

If they pulled this off i might go back to my DS after getting Heartgold. My DSi has been just lonely for the last week. This would be amazing if they pull it off. Sign me up!

They put Shrek 2 and Shark Tale (Probably others but none that I can think of.) on GBA video so why can't they do this?

Those are videos that are stored in a card. Netflix would involve streaming video onto the DS. I dunno about you guys, but I wouldn't really see it happen. The DS wasn't designed for streaming video

I wouldn't be surprised if this was only for the next DSi (after the xl) I heard they are putting it on the app store on Ipods (It just "happens to be after the anouncement of the ipad)

Sounds interesting, but I doubt it's something I would use. The mean reason is the fact that it is streaming. That means I have to be someplace where there is Wi-Fi. If I'm at my house, I can already stream to my PC. Why would I watch on the DSi when I can watch on my 20" widescreen monitor?

If Netflix is interested in putting handhelds to use, they should come up with some sort of system that allows you to download a limited amount of movies. For example, I can choose to download two movies that Netflix normally streams to my handheld. Netflix keeps track of how many are downloaded and prevents you from going over the limit. They could then have a time limit for how long they are available on your system.

Streaming to a handheld just seems contrary to the whole idea of portability. I guess it doesn't matter much if you have 3G, When it comes to the DS though, the only time I could ever see myself wanting to watch a movie on it is when I'd be traveling, and streaming prevents that.

This doesn't seem possible. The DS would have a hard time streaming video. It takes longer than a minute to load a five minute flipnote on the DSi. Imagine how long it would take to load an entire movie.

Then again, this does sound interesting. Sign me up!

too much for what they can expect from a portable device... Wii No Ma Dokudemo seems better for me

I'd rather watch some TV shows or animated short films on a DSi. Watching a full length movie seems illogical on the tiny screens.

Anyways, I love the service, and stream a lot of stuff on my PS3. It would be awesome to watch stuff on my DSi, even if the quality is not the best.
