Copy and pasted from a post of mine from another forum:
"I’m kinda surprised at the lack of talk about this game seeing as it’s a first-party Nintendo game, but I guess it just isn’t as popular as it should be.

For those that don’t know, this is the latest entry in the Mario “puzzle” series. The series started out being a puzzle-platformer with Donkey Kong ‘94 for the Game Boy, then after a long hiatus spawned a great sequel on the GBA. But after the transition to the DS, it turned to guiding the Mini Marios that you collected in the GBA game through levels by creating platforms, ramps, springs, and other forms of transportation. This latest game isn’t greatly different from the last, but it has added a much better level editor, other Minis that that have their own quirks as opposed to just looking different, and it will have supposedly better online support with contests. It’s kinda hard to explain the gameplay. It’s somewhat similar to Mario & Wario for the Super Famicom."

I picked the game up today with Target’s nice little bonus of a $5 gift card, but I have yet to play it yet.

Have any NLers gotten their hands on it yet? What do you guys think of it? What’s your favorite game in the series? Go ahead and post your FCs if you’d like to share levels.

It's a definite get for me. I'll probably pick it up on Saturday. I absolutely love the DSiWare version and was really surprised at how much there was to the game, so I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on the retail game, since I imagine it has to have more.

I know that my mom bought it but I have to wait until Christmas to get it. Same with Sonic Colors and Epic Mickey

Birdman

I'll wait to see if a certain large person comes down a certain smoky part of my house to deliver it to me after the winter solstice. If not, I'll buy it during an inventory-clearing sale.

Exactly.

I love the series, so I'm absolutely going to get this, probably for Christmas.

I have a question, though. In every review it says the level editor is better than in previous games. How is that possible? In the previous games, you had access to the same tools as the game developers did while making in-game levels. Does "a much better level editor" just mean that there's more tools to use in the game?

MetalMario

I really like these games. Reminds me of Lemmings.

I have it and its the most refined in the series thus far. Shiny buttons and sleek look. It offers some new features as well as some old. Honestly though, I really enjoyed the first March of the Minis the most. I love having control over the characters. The DSiWare version and this new one is more like lemmings and it feels like you dont have as much freedom especially in the level editor. Ill admit though that Im enjoying it. Its just that I really miss that user interface of being able to control your mini but tapping him and he will stop. drawing in an up direction made him jump and drawing in the opposite direction made him go the other way. some new features that i really like are,

  • pipes that you can move around
  • shy guys that when they enter a box becomes a box and wont move any more or hurt you(same with the pokey 3 spaces though)
  • the cannons that shoot your mini across in 45 degree directions
  • wooden blocks that take up 3 spaces that you can dissappear and reappear in designated areas revealed in the magnet level.

things i miss from the first game
fire and wood, being able to ride enemies, getting pushed by enemies. big boxes that could carry you across conveyour belts etc.. im always gonna be critical i guess on the new installments because i dont think there is any hope for them to bring back stylus contriol over the minis.

but, id recommend this game to everyone only because the replay value will be great if more people are sharing levels online!!!

Haven't seen the new commercials for this one yet, but IGN nailed this puppy with a 9.0, and it looks pretty damn fun.

Holy Hyrule that is un-expecting!

If your a fan of the series is it worth keeping no.2 when your about to buy "no.4" then?

Rob_mc_1

I think it is worth keeping both due to a few key differences. In number 2 you can stop mini's after you start them while in 4 once they start you can't do anything to them. The items you use are a bit different so the puzzles you can make are different. It really comes down to weather or not you will got back to number 2 in the end.

Would you say this is better then the Dsi version? It seems like it since this is getting good praise everywhere!
