Topic: DSi.... Why the Clickey Buttons?

Anyone else asking this question. DSiWare is picking up steam really quickly and its got me grabbing my DSi more and more. DSiWare and Touch Screen Control games such as Ninja Gaiden and Ninjatown are all I play my DSi for because I HATE the clickey buttons. Ive been playing my DS constantly even though I have a DSi, because of it. Anyone else get annoyed by it. Ive owned every Nintendo system made and I dont remember any system having this.... Ever. Why did Nintendo decide to do this after all these years?

For some reason it is really noticable on my DSi. Really noticable. I have a launch day DSi and maybe its different on them, but they have a audible click. My wife complains if I play it while in the bed loud. I love the bigger brighter screen, but the noticable click on the Dpad especially is very annoying. Maybe my DSi is defected or something, as its really bad.

Thank you! Why is it that no one else on the internet seems to notice that they went back to the clicky buttons after the awesome old-style squishy buttons on the DSLite? That was the main reason I updated to a Lite from the regular old model.

I simply can't stand the DSi's d-pad. It actually starts to hurt my left hand after a while.

Whoah, what? I thought the DSi had SOFTER buttons than the lite (or are you talking about the d-pad?). My GBA SP's buttons are clicky, and I love them. I had to get my DS lite's buttons replaced because a few of them were so soft that they stopped responding. When they're clicky, they put less stress on my thumbs because I don't have to put as much pressure on them to hold them down. Really wish Nintendo would go back to all-clicky buttons.

I don't like the clicky buttons, but it's not really that big of a deal.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

I still think miny are overly clickey. I mean there is a very noticable click to them, unlike any other Nintendo controller Ive played on. GBA SP had a somewhat click, buy my DSi REALLY clicks, to the extent that it tires out your hands to play it because it takes force to press the buttons. Ive got to find someone else with one and try theirs out and if its not like mine, and Im starting to doubt it will be, Ill be sending my DSi to Nintendo.

I actually like the buttons on the DSi much better than the DS Lite, and clickety buttons [which my DSi does not have except maybe the L and R buttons] really does not bother me at all.

Try playing Sonic Rush (reasonably well) with the DS Lite. It's a heck of a lot harder and less responsive (I'm sure it's possible, but it's definitely not ideal). I used to play time attacks on the first stage using my original DS. When I picked up the DS Lite I just couldn't do it anymore. So I'm pretty happy that they've gone back to the clicky style - I can play Sonic Rush again !

clicky buttons don't protrude as much from the system. using them is part of what allowed nintendo to make the dsi slimmer than the ds lite. doesn't really bother me either way.

Try playing pop island on a DSLite. Your hands won't be sore after 30 minutes!

Just let it happen.

Soft buttons are slightly less responsive (see the Sonic Rush post above) and wear out faster (they use a little rubber pad under the button as opposed to a clicky thing. Hey, I'm no electrician, I don't know what they're called). I prefer the clicky.

I like the clickey ones, but on the topic of annoying your wife (what a lead-in), I've found that touchscreen-only games are really the way to go if you're trying not to disturb a companion.

Twitter is a good place to throw your nonsense.

@warioswoods.... that is true, or play a PSP or DS Lite. I really do think there actually might be a defet in my DSi after all the responses here, wich is why I made the thread. After downloading Dark Void and playing it, Ive really noticed that it literally takes a good bit of force to make the buttons press and the click is just abnormal in my opinion. Ive got a friend that is a story manager at Gamestop, I think I might take my DSi up there and compare it to another this weekend to see if it truely is my DSi or just all in my head. Its so bad Ive completely quit playing Chrono Trigger on my DSi, wich I got for Christmas. Oh, but I go out of my way to annoy my wife.... that is why I got married lol. She does have here own PS3 and DS Lite and reguraly play Modern Warfare 2 with me online, so I cant complain.
