Topic: DS positions

I have like 4 DS lite handhelds from when my kids were younger and 3 of them have broken hinges. The other one opens and sticks in one position which is close to being fully open. Is this normal? I moved to a 3ds a long time ago and I can't remember. It seems to me there was another "lock" position around 45 degrees. Hopefully you understand what I mean. I've done some searching and can't seem to find an answer. Thanks much.

That's normal for the DS Lite and the first model of the 3DS.

It's only the later models that locked in the additional 45 degree position.

Almost every DS ends up with a floppy screen at some point, it's just from normal use.

If you aren't afraid of tinkering with them, and if at least one of the ones you describe as broken is too broken, you could experiment with turning one into a "Game Boy Macro", it's a process where you remove the top screen and repurpose the device to play GBA games. It's a fun little project.

Thank you both. Eel, I will definitely give that a try. Thanks for the heads up.
