I still can't believe that anyone expected this to be like a Dragon Quest game.
The screenshots and videos of the game made it very, very, very clear that it was a basic board game.
Also, Dungeons and Dragons is not a board game. Am very disappointed you think that (whoever said it) - go play it, it's awesome (but not a board game)
Not so much a change of heart as seeing that it does offer a minute amount of strategy and does so in a way that anyone can make use of it. My main reservation about the game is that its name is going to influence a lot of DQ fans to grab it and many are going to be in for a shock when the play it.
By the same token though, the name might help it sell well. I just got off the phone with a buddy of mine trying to warn him not to grab it if he's expecting a DWM or DQ experience. I was too late and he was not happy.
I believe there's 6 with two variations for each but I'll have to double check that. The levels you see in Versus aren't necessarily the same ones you see in Survival.
There's the desert one, the ice one (Frigid something), Mt. Magma, Plain Plains, and... I'm gonna double check the stages for you when I finish this online match.
That's my team name! XD Sure I'm up for a game! Tell me when and where.
@Odnintend: There are 3 levels per mode (Versus/Survival). In Versus, you have:
Plain Plains
Cool Caves
Deadly Dunes
In Survival, you have:
Deadly Dunes
Mt. Magma
Frigid Fields
In both the above modes, each stage has two variations. The training mode has a beach stage also and this mode is where you'll find a selection of training missions.
Mario Tennis is not exactly a very good example as Mario has been in just about every type of game known to man. I'm just hoping that DQ fans don't expect too much. I saw videos of the game before hand, so I had an idea of what to expect. Many friends I know don't subscribe to mags or visit web sites and tend to go it alone. And I'm not disappointed it's what it is, I just don't think it's as good as it could have been with a bit more variety and some tighter play controls.
I love it so far! I'm playing an online match right now with 3 other players. I got through like 5 of the Training Missions so far and I'm getting the hang of the different characters. If there's anything you wanna know about it let me know as I'll definitely be playing for a good while.
Just got it today on a whim (because I buy every dsiware title like a dork lol) and this does look interesting... Maybe we can play an online match soon? How do you find other players?

I've faced people in both Versus and Survival (I've gotten 3 other people in Survival twice). If you can't find someone, try alternating between the two but Survival seems to be wielding more opponents.
