Very simplistic. Dumbed down, if you will.

Whats Bland Corbie? Or are you reviewing that one?

EDIT: Sorry Odentin beat me to it! Bu are you reviewing this one? I understand it may be simple, but an RTS on DSiWare just about has to be dosen't it? Well I couldn't say my opinion becuase I don't have it or a DSi, I guess this one will have to wait until Christmas when I get a DSi!

Well it's not an RPG by any means and a completely different take on the series. Corbie is a big fan of the traditional DQ games, Odnetnin but that shouldn't affect you or me since we've never played a DQ game before.

I'm reviewing it. It's nothing like a DQ game whatsoever. The battles are not similar at all. They took 6 DQ monsters, gave them three basic card attacks and tossed them onto a grid. It's decently fun, but very dumbed-down and basic.

Not a bad game, but will likely frustrate RPG fans looking for more.

But that's just it. It seems more like a Strategy game than anything else. I didn't really expect it to be traditional RPG flavour.

Well if it's going to frustarte RPG fans then maybe I will wait......
Odnetnin: I'm saying Hmmmm.... too!
Oh well if I get it and I don't like it when I get my DSi it won't be that big of a loss, its better than spending it on the Master of Illusion Express games!!!!

Doesn't even seem very strategy-game like to me. No terrain variation, the attacks are simple and rudimentary, and there's not much variety period. It's about what I expected for the 500 points. The stylus control is a bit tweaky too. Sometimes hard to move where you want to.

Think of it as a Dragon Quest board game for little kids.

I know that Board Games can be more complicated than almost any video game, looks at all of those Dungeons and Dragons game and Mouse Trap, Hours to set up for minutes of play unless it's really complictaed like Menopoly!

It isn't a RTS, it's a S-RPG so no it really doesn't. Mecho Wars (is that the title?) is going to be a S-RPG as well, and I think it features an actual campaign, and more than 6 units.

@Sylverstone: Like I said, I took the plunge not knowing what to expect and found this to be a surprisingly fun game. I agree with Corbie on the stylus use (it's a little subject) and sure you could look at how "basic" it feels in comparison to other RPG's but you should look at it as a game on its own, as is. And for 500 Points with online multiplayer, I can confidently say that this is a good game worth the points.

<TANGENT>
The grand-daddy of the Real Time Strategy genre is Command & Conquer. C&C ran on a 66MHz 486 with a mere 8MB of memory. The screen resolution was 320x200. 3D hardware (or even graphics acceleration) was practically nonexistent at the time. 20MB was 1/6th of the 120MB hard drive in my 486.

The DSi has a 133MHz ARM processor with 16MB of RAM, a 3D graphics processor, a secondary ARM7 processor for sound processing, 256MB of storage, and two 256x192 pixel screens.

Even though those specs look only mildly better than your average 486, I can assure you that the DSi could kick any 486 system in existence up between the ears.

Thx Sonic, I'll take the plunge cuz I have downloaded a DSiWare game since August!

My video will be uploaded and premiered on YouTube and here!

I figured as such. The first thought that came to mind when I saw the trailor was "FF Tactics Jr.". >_>
