Topic: DO NOT BUY Hero of Sparta

Unless you're a fan of frame rates of around 10 FPS, non-existant collision detection with half the game's weapons, a plot that makes no sense, and a game that's over in around 1 1/2 hours.

Oh, and this is based on the 40MB PSN version. The DSiWare version will be dumbed down by about a half. I have to run a review of the DSiWare version, am so not looking forward to downloading this one.

It's a shame, too. People will likely pick it up based on the screenshots.

But wow, only 10 fps? i was hoping it would be at least decent, but oh well.

I honeslty thought the game was going to explode inside my PS3 (a feat, considering its a digital download), the amount it was straining to render the 3 polygon baddies. I've honeslty not seen worse stuttering since the early days of Playstation.

stuttering = nostalgia for me

I got it on my Ipod touch, I'm still trying to figure out why people like it in any way. It's just not fun.

How about a (DO Not Buy Tread), a list of Bad DSiware Games. or other bad Games.

But everyone has there own teast in Games, so "what bad for one, may not be bad for some."

@hulklol: it's certainly your choice to believe a close friend over a random person on the internet, but note that WaltzElf didn't even mention the developer in the original post -- he merely listed everything he's experienced so far with the game re: the PSN version. waiting for a review on Hero of Sparta before buying it, at least, is pretty sound advice if what he's saying about the PSN version is true.

as for why WaltzElf hasn't created a thread like the one you describe, the admins don't take kindly to threads created solely to bash devs or games, which is pretty much what that would turn out to be.

You'd save yourself a lot of time making a "Safe to Buy" thread for DSiWare. Chances are if Art Style isn't in the title, it'll likely fall in the Do Not Buy category.

This doesn't have anything to do with Gameloft. They just happen to be the developers, but if you were in the Playstation 3 thread you can see that I was almost as critical of a PSN version of Catan, which Gameloft had nothing to do with.

It's called "criticising a bad game." Yes, I don't like Gameloft games, but that's because I've yet to find a game of theirs that I enjoy. When I do, I'll be quite happy to praise that game. I haven't got a problem with Gameloft itself - it's clearly a well-run business, and is in fact owned by Ubisoft, which I actually like.

Aw, there's heaps of good games on DSiWare that are worth the $2-15 or whatever you pay for them.

I have Hero of Sparta on iPhone and it is terrible, so I agree with everything bad said about the game in this thread. Can't believe I paid full price for it too, such a ripoff.

I'm never buying from Gameloft ever again. Not after having played Real Soccer 09. _{Shudders in horror}

That was one of the better ones. Legends of Exidia nearly drove me to tears.
