Sadness and woe!

I made my son and I eat the whole box of that wretched cereal so we could use the amiibo onthe box for Super Mario Maker. We were really hoping for a special costume, maybe a running, jumping box of cereal.

No dice. That amiibo isn't compatible with SMM. That and Shovel Knight.

Nintendo wouldn't bother adding new content to Super Mario Maker at this stage (or any Wii U game for that matter).

I imagine that the amiibo can be used for generic functionality in games that support any amiibo as opposed to specific ones. I very much doubt that the cereal amiibo is recognised as a Mario or Mario-themed amiibo specifically.

Never heard of this cereal before. Looks just like Lucky Charms. Shame they had to ruin it with gelatin, or I could have been reliving my fondest childhood memories...

We managed to find a box, and the amiibo functionality doesn't work at all. We tried to use it in Odyssey, and it doesn't do anything. Does the box actually have to be empty first, because it is still full of cereal?

And possibly cochineal as well.

@noobish_hat : I have no idea, hence why I said "possibly". I assume that you're avoiding gelatin either for dietary and/or religious reasons. I am not familiar with international additive codes either. Australia's conventions are different in that respect.

I know Kelloggs uses cochineal in Froot Loops (at least in Australia) and I have seen many products that use multiple food colourings in red-coloured food. It particularly angers me when beet red or other colours are used in addition to cochineal.

@the_shpydar speaking as a refugee from the twentieth century, yeah, you do. My mom always told me that if there's a toy in the box, that you can't just go rooting around for it, you can't do any shenanigans to get your hands on it. Eat the cereal.

And, you know, it's a good lesson for my son. I'd always told him that if there's a cartoon character on the box, that it's full to the brim with sugar. And now we have an archetypal example of that.

Well, that makes sense. Especially building in the lesson for the kid. Just wasn't sure if you realized or not that the amiibo can be scanned without even opening the box.

She-Ra is awesome. If you believe otherwise, you are clearly wrong.
Urban Champion is GLORIOUS.
