Yeah, I was talking about this back in the Smash Bros. Thread, but I think this might need its own thread.
So Subspace Emissary 2 is basically Nintendo's take on the Skylanders/Disney Infinity craze. You take your amiibo(anyone, by the way) and explore the world as you try to save said world from another Subspace catastrophy. The game would be updated every often to include new amiibo functionality.
Why does something like this have to be made? To give more reasons why we should shell out on amiibo, as well as giving existing and future amiibo more uses. The game could feature a vast world in which you can take absolutely any amiibo, customize the character, and use him/her to explore the world. If I could have my way, I could include a world builder in the game so that users can create their own worlds and have other user use their own amiibo to explore the user-generated worlds.
I'm thinking the game should be created by Sakurai's team. Would the game be F2P? well, I'm sure everyone would like that, but given the amount of work that would be put into the game, Nintendo might charge a couple of bucks. shrugs
So would you buy such a game? Do you prefer Nintendo making a deal with Disney and including amiibo functionality in Disney Infinity? Sound off your opinion!
We could always do melee's adventure mode (short but sweet if story was a problem) expand it a bit to, make a choose your path like the 3ds version, put in a few more franchises to the mix, put in nintendo enemies and bosses, make giga bowser the final boss again and boom, an adventure mode to last through the ages.
Was Mariobro4. No, I'm not taking off my backpack...it's important.
What you describe sounds pretty interesting. I'd probably try it out. Give my amiibos something more to do anyway. I feel like naming it Subspace Emissary 2 though is going to make a lot of people skip over your post and say no.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

I just named it Subspace Emissary 2 because I believe the concept of Subspace Emissary is great for amiibo - The sorta vast world and Nintendo chatacters coming together. Of course it actually won't be called 'Subspace Emissary 2.' Maybe something else. @KO-Cub Er...? I'm still here.

Except this one won't use amiibo, and it could easily be Smash DLC. Don't get me wrong, I like your idea. I guess I'm just looking for a game that uses all amiibo in a very good way. WFT and Little Mac amiibo are amiibo that are likely to never have any decent use apart from Smash. Let 'Subspace Emissary 2' save these amiibo from its misery.
I couldn't put my finger on why I found Subspace Emissary so boring.....until a couple days ago when I had an epiphany. It's hard to have an interesting plot or character development when all of the characters are mute. I mean that sort of thing is fine for the characters stand alone games, because the gameplay usually trumps the story when it comes to Nintendo titles, but the silent protagonist thing didn't do the Subspace Emissary any favors and I don't think there is much of a way to fix that problem. Well, one, but I don't think Nintendo would do it.
I, for one, liked Subspace Emissary. Not loved.. just liked. Anyway, I think one of the main reasons why Subspace is loathed is because the game did not present any sense of connection between the characters, and the fact that the characters just had to move from Point A to Point B without any real sense of adventure didn't help things. If Nintendo does make a game like this, we can very well hope that the concept of amiibo will help give the game a good underlying story.
