Topic: Do you actually use your amiibos in games?

I honestly find the use of amiibos in games really… boring.

I don't care about using Miis in Mario Kart because I'd much rather use a Nintendo character, and the Mii costumes aren't anything that excites me. I have about 18 amiibos and finally got around to using them in Smash Bros yesterday and I made them fight an 8-player smash battle with 40 stocks. They leveled up to about level 26 and it was alright I guess. I just let the game run as I showered and watched it periodically, but I really don't see the excitement of leveling up a CPU character. It would have been cool if they unlock alternate costumes or skins for characters (Daisy for Peach, Tails for Sonic maybe) but am I missing anything? What's so fun about fighting an over powered CPU or watching them fight?

I do. Everytime i load up hyrule warriors i scan them for in game goodies as well as captain toad for the hide and seek challenges. i don't use them in smah mostly because i stopped playing it 23 hours in. i did mange to score marth and ike and am stoked to use them in code name steam.

I don't have any but the ones i do want I don't want them for what they get in game or to use them in-game. I'll be honest, I really think people that are buying Amiibos just for what they unlock are buying them for all the wrong reasons. They do not "lock content" as people like to complain. They don't, it's all extra stuff. Some simple suits in MK8, some challenges in Splatoon that are literally just levels from single player with something simple like "beat it in this many seconds," or a really boring mode in Mario Party 10. You're not missing anything even close to giving you an "incomplete experience".

The main reason for Amiibos is really that they're very nice quality cheap figures, finally getting merchandise for franchises that have literally had none. I hate when people say "What should I get it for? It's just a toy. Do I just stare at it?" Yes. There's an entire market of comic/anime fans that buy $100 statues of their favorite characters to just display and have merchandise of their favorite charater. If you're gonna get an Amibo, get it because it's a nice figure. If you're expecting more you are going to be disappointed. Either it unlocks too little for you or unlocks too much, you don't win. Get it to display, customize, or take silly pictures of. The stuff it unlocks is a bonus, not the other way around.

Sorry, mini rant.

lol what the heck. I don't get why people put their amiibo in battle and just watch it. surely you realise you're supposed to be the one fighting them right? seriously, you tell us you put a bunch of CPU's in a match and half watched them while you showered and bummed around, then complain that's boring?! poopitypoop man, we can't tell you how to have fun, that's part of the magic. i think that's the problem with a lot of people on this board... they want to be told exactly why something is good and how to do it and get on the hype train... but nintendo is all about imagination, exploration, pushing the boundaries.... best example is probably the way Melee went from a party fighting game to one of the deepest, most sophisticated and biggest fighting games ever.

Yes, of course I use them. Also, the point of their usage in Smash is to fight them yourself so they learn and use YOUR fighting habits, not have them all just fight like regular CPU right from the start. Where's the fun in that? Also amiibo trained like that will have less ski than a lvl 9 CPU even at lvl 50.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

Hyrule warriors gets the most use, I use all the racing suits I have (no Falcon suit...thanks Nintendo and scalpers), I like to pit my Figure player against as many CPU as possible to see how I need to train him. I use kirby but I don't have Meta or Dedede so I don't get the most usage out of them. I'll be playing amiibo party when I pick up MP10 as well. I'm trying to get my hands on some FE amiibo for steam but I refused to pay more than twenty. So I'm out of luck.

For me amiibo has been pretty useful... but I'm getting frustrated with the lack of product. I think that will kill the hype faster than those that aren't fans of what amiibo has to offer in game.

@Retro_on_the_Go pretty much summed up my sentiments to near perfection. Except for the but anout Amiibo Party. Seriously, Amiibo party is the closest thing to a good Mario Party we've had since 8 and even that's debatable.

Hyrule Warriors has the most use given that Rupees and silver/gold materials are very important (I refuse to use the 9,999,999 rupee glitch) though I have unlocked all the MK8 racing suits (until the update) and used some of the MP10 compatible amiibo for Amiibo Party though that mode feels the most dull of the modes.

Use in Smash is pretty much nonexistent as I feel it to be extremely boring (I like Classic, All Star, Orders and online much more than standard local Smash and 8 player Smash).

I haven't played Smash in awhile, but I've used Toad for the hunt in Captain Toad a couple of times (still need to complete Episode 2 and the bonus missions before I do that in earnest) and I've done the item unlock in Hyrule Warriors (again not played that since beating the main game missions). I think the Mario Kart Mii suits are fun; that's the main reason I've finally broken down and decided to pay over the odds to import a Pac-Man amiibo - coolest Mario Kart outfit yet!

I've used them for a bit, only for Smash Bros. and leveling them up. It was fun at first, but after awhile I'd rather just play online. And I guess the appeal to leveling them up to 50 and making them fight is to see how they hold up, fight, as well as who was trained better.

I haven't used mine. I just pretty much collect them. I should unlock suits and weapons and things though since I open them.

Yes, but mostly in Smash, Mario Party, and Captain Toad. Mario Kart is a one and done thing so I have done that. Hyrule Warriors allows daily scans but I don't care to much about them. I just want to get through the story lol. But I do use my Amiibos.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Of course! My myriad of level 50 amiibo are better fighters than any level 9 cpu.

I have been getting amiibo since day 1 but it wasn't until yesterday that I opened Toon Link to get the spinner in HW, as that was the main reason I got it. I already have the normal Link.

I will also open MP Peach since I have two, and will most likely use them in HW and maybe MK8. The Smash use does not interest me. I would love to use my Ike in Steam but I don't have a new 3DS.

But for me it is the figurine aspect that gets me, so most of my amiibo are in their boxes.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

13 out of 21 amiibo I own is out the case and used in all my amiibo enabled 3ds and Wii U games minus mario party 10 since I don't have that yet.. The amiibo still in the case are the ones I don't have time/ need to train in smash or don't have an unique use or feature in any current games.

Yes I do. It probably sounds bad but it's one of the main reasons I'm trying to check out MP10. I already understand the main game, but I want to try out this amiibo party, I've got friends I can play with too to try it out.

Project Steam on 3DS supports the Fire Emblem Smash amiibo and unlocks the characters to use in-game.

I've levelled up all of my Smash amiibo to level 50 and my Super Mario series amiibo have all of their bases unlocked. I still use my amiibo from time to time as reinforcements in my Smash games, and to unlock more coins, trophies, and power-ups. I occasionally play amiibo party in Mario Party 10 (although I prefer the other modes as the constant and pointless amiibo tapping really kills the momentum of the experience).

I also use my Shulk amiibo daily to unlock tokens in Xenoblade Chronicles 3D.

Yes, I do. I think (so far) their usage has been very good. For me, their functionality is an afterthought (probably for Nintendo as well...), it's mostly about the figures themselves, but I've liked what I've seen so far. Their functionality shouldn't really be anything too major or exciting, otherwise you're getting into annoying dlc territory. They should just offer a neat little extra. Like the racing suits in MK8; nothing big, nothing essential, but kind of cool nonetheless. Something where you feel you got something extra with it, but you wouldn't feel you'd missed out on anything without it.
