Topic: Disney Infinity 3 w/ Amiibo support idea

Nintendo has said in the past that they wanted the Wii U to be the best place for the toys to life games. What if for the next Disney Infinity it supported Amiibo? Even if it was just the Super Mario Series. Would prople be interested in that? Or do you think it would be a bad move?

As a fan of both DI and Amiibo I would love to see it happen. Plus it could be a cheap way for Nintendo to have major functionality for their Amiibo without people feeling like they were ripped off.

i think the issue with it would be that a its a third party devolper so I doubt nintendo will put to much effort in it and the fact that they cut the wii version of 2.0 is helpping either I think skylanders is more likely o to the fact that they pitched the idea to nitendo and is the only activison series on wiiu still updateing and wii

It won't happen, they would have to make a separate version of DI for the Wii U and one for PS/Xbox, or Nintendo would have to allow Amiibo to be scanned in all versions.

It wouldn't be a completely different version. Just some added stuff. Like exclusive DLC. It would be Nintendo paying Disney for the content, which would be relatively cheap. Nintendo has expressed interest in partnering with other companies for use of their characters also. I don't see it as an impossibility, maybe unlikely but still possible.

With the leak that occurred today this conversation came up again with some friends. Everywhere else I talk to people about this idea they think it is a really good one. But here people seem to be against it. I wonder why that is?

I had a weird dream where Disney Magical World had a sequel that used the Disney Infinity figures as amiibos compatible with the NFC scanner.

Sounds good to me. Kingdom Hearts sounds so odd in paper but it works. Disney does not even have to make new figures, but I wonder how would that work since DI figures need to be in the portal at all times?

I would also love to see a mash up where the Mario amiibo give Disney characters Nintendo themed suits. It would be funny to see Mickey dressed as Mario.

i would guess that the Amiibo would just sit on the portal like the Infinity figures. There is really no reason to make the game require Amiibos to be scanned in differently. The costume idea isn't bad either, I was hoping for more usage but anything would be welcome lol

So my other question (as I don't have DI, just the Wreck-it Ralph figures) is if amiibo fit in the DI portal. I would keep the portal for DI and the Gamepad for amiibo, thus making sure this content will only go to Wii U.

Well licensing and Nintendo would be the reason why it stays exclusive to Wii U. I haven't tried myself but the Amiibo bottom and the DI bottoms are both round. I would hope they fit but worst case scenario I guess they could either allow the GamePad to work or have DI for Wii U come with two small plastic pieces that allow Amiibo to fit on the portal. I am getting more and more excited about this idea which means Nintendo probably won't but it is a fun idea.

Since they were in Wreck-It Ralph, they could use the Bowser, Sonic, & Pac-Man amiibos. Maybe exclusive missions for Ralph for somethin

Unless something new occurs for Ralph in Disney Infinity 3, it would seem weird to limit amiibo usage to a Disney Infinity 1 figure.
