Ok, now be sure to turn notifications ON in the chat. Tap the top right arrow and select "Notifications" so that it reads "Notifications OFF" with a crossed out bell in the menu, and out of the menu in the group chat the crossed out bell won't be present. I know it's counterintuitive but it saying OFF in the menu actually means they're on in the chat. If you have a crossed out ringer icon in the chat though, notifications are turned off.
Then you can tap back to see your list of active chats. In the bottom right corner, tap MORE, then tap SETTINGS up top, then scroll down to notifications, turn them on for the global setting, and choose a tone you will hear

This is NA only right? Well if you like importing, Megaman and Sonic are available on most Amazon sites here in Europe like Italy and France directly (not third-party sellers).
I'd go mostly with Amazon France or Spain since they are cheaper. Italy and Germany mostly sticks to SRP. Use Google translate addon on your chrome desktop browser. Forget Amazon UK since £ exchange rate is higher, not to mention their shipping fee.
