Topic: Will Nintendo ever let you change your Nintendo ID?

Do you think Nintendo will ever let us change it in the future? I'd like to change mine to something closer to resembling my real name. From what I can tell, no one ever sees your network ID. They just see your Mii name or nickname.

As far as changing the NNID, idk, but your NNID is displayed right below your nickname:

Your Nickname is just what displays on your posts (it's just the name of the Mii you're using), but the NNID is how people can find you.

Ah, ok. I thought only we could see our own ID. I guess the one I chose is ok, then...

doubt so, even Sony does not allow people to change their PSN username and they are ages ahead of Nintendo when it comes to online services

Nintendo should charge people $49.68 if they want to change their NNID... That would sort you out

If you play online games on your WiiU, it displays them by your Nintendo network name. Call of Duty Black Ops 2/Ghosts and Assassins Creed 4 for instance. Monster Hunter 3 does it by your character name BUT has the nintendo network name when you select their name in menus.

I highly doubt they will, but I hope Sony and Nintendo do though. I made a PSN account a few months ago with an awful name...

There are two reasons basically why Sony does not want to allow you to change your username and while Microsoft charges for it.

1. Prohibiting User Name changes makes difficult for people to sell their accounts with all their digital games to other users. (for example someone may not like the username of the person sellling and refuse to buy for that reason or someone has its real name as username and does not want anyone else to have that)

2. Prohibiting people making out a business of selling accounts with loads of achievements/trophies (yah I don't get it either, but there are apparently people who would buy such thing)

Since Nintendo has nothing like achievements/trophies and no account system there is no real reason for them to be mean about not letting you change your ID but Nintendo seems hellbent in bringing you the worst of both worlds they are probably hoping that if you sell your console full of digital games to another person and the person doesn't like the registered NNID it would delete and buy all games again

The more I hear about NNIDs the less I like the sound of them.

As I said NNID is meant to bring you the worst of both worlds, when you register a NNID your digital games are tied to your NNID WHICH IS TIED TO YOUR SYSTEM. This basically means you lose the few upsides of NIntendo's older hardware base system (you cannot freely change countries aka country lock; you cannot sell your system with digital games included without worrying about someone else getting your NNID and if you have both a 3DS and Wii U registered under the same NNID and want to sell one with digital games included you can't unless you are willing to share an account with the person who bought it) the only one I really mind is the country lock as I'm not planning on selling my 3DS but what bothers me is that Nintendo took the few advantages the system has without giving any of the advantages you expect from an account system (not depending on sending your system to Nintendo for transfering your games if your system breaks and not losing all your games if your system gets lost or stolen) And before you said its not big deal because Nintendo's customer support is so nice blah blah blah, that only applies if you are in the major markets if you are in a country where Nintendo has no operations you are screwed, and NIntendos support is also region locked so if you moved to a different region or country you are also screwed.....

In sum Nintendoes what others don't which is bringing you the worst of account systems and hardware base systems at the same time
