I'm getting my new Nintendo 3DS XL Majora's Mask edition delivered on Friday & I wondered what size micro SD card people have to consider what size best to get?

@Beevdog Depends on whether you download retail games or not. If yes then 32 GB would be best however if no then 16 GB.

i use 32GB, should be enough for 20 games more or less. if you only buy retail, you might as well just get 8GB. 32 and even 16 is slightly overkill unless you take a ton of pictures(several thousands)

I download most of my games, just not games I think I may trade in later. So I use 32 GB.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

32 GB.
16 is not enough to download all the eshop demos (plus downloadable games).

Please don't say that graphic in games are not important. It hurts me as a game graphic artist.

I have 32gb, only cost 20 quid, have lots of VC and eShop games and 11 retail downloads, I have approx 16gb remaining

32 GB because of what BinaryFragger explained.

I really don't like the navigation bar of Nintendo Life continuously reappearing while browsing!!

64GB microSD, because that's the only Micro I had on hand that could fit all my games.

Jack of all trades, master of some

32 GB is the limit.

Edit: Never mind, you can use it, only that you have to format it to FAT32 apparently.

3DS games:

Mario Kart 7

Zelda OoT 3D

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Shadow Wars

Pokemon Black FC: 2666 2484 8599

and more.

Found a cheap yet trustworthy 32gb card, and since I don't fancy formatting it's the highest amount of space I can get. Pretty fast too, apparently.

I have 16GB...waiting for my 32GB that's taking forever to show up for some reason. (Amazon/USPS tracking is screwed up apparently)

A 32GB card is only about $5 more than a 16GB, might as well go with the bigger one especially since changing the card in the New 3DS is a bit of a pain.

Only because its cheaper doesnt mean that is better. For example for me speed is much more important than size. So if i got the choice between a 32GB slow micro card and a 16 or even 8GB fast micro card i take the latter ones

Currently im tinkering if i should get a 8 or 16 one ^^

Yep, but it seems that New 3DS is not as fast as the fastest cards, for some Youtube videos I've watched.

Mind to post some of those videos ? Would you recommend class 10 or class 6 cards ? I read there is a big difference in sequential toward random write speeds. What i grasped is the higher the class the better the sequential performance, but then the random performance gets worse ...

That's probably true. Anyway, keep in mind that your system is going to randomly read the SD card most of the time (you want to play Luigi's Mansion which is here in the card, then you want to play Fire Emblem which is there in the card...). The system will read all the content every time you switch it on to show you the games you have. It will only write when you buy and download a game so I wouldn't pay much attention to writing speeds.

I'll try to find the video and post it here.

I went with a fast 32GB card that Best Buy had on sale for $20. I got it before the New 3DS XL came out and transfered all my stuff over to it. Once I got the new console I did the file transfer and it took about 10 minutes total since there is an option to move a Micro SD card over to the new console if you are using one in an adapter on an older system.
