Hey Everyone. I'm new to the site. Getting geared up for the 3DS release, though, so I'll probably be spending more time here in the future.
I was wondering if anyone has experience with console launches at Wal-Mart. I was thinking of stopping in at midnight to try to snag a 3DS, out of fear that Gamestop doesn't have enough in stock to cover all of its pre-orders. I know Wal-Mart isn't taking in-store preorders, but the rep I spoke with at the store told me that he "wasn't sure" if they'd start selling the console at midnight.
So, is it as simple as asking the electronics guy to grab one from the back?
Not exactly you have to actually wait in line outside the store and they will only have 15 systems wth tons of people although its easy if you get there at about 1 or 2pm then you wont have any trouble and they will actually have people come out there with systems or have go in the back and pick one up. I actually got my Wii from Wal Mart before anyone else by doing this.
Hmm. I guess I was hoping that it wouldn't be such a zoo. I thought maybe the hardcore early-adopters would have mostly pre-ordered the thing by now. Wishful thinking I guess.

spot on this is how I got my wii too. We actually ended up starting the line in the hardware department or something. There was a sign that said line starts here. There should probably be a sign somewhere like that if they are on top of their game. Then we made a list of who is in the line in what order. It was Christmas season too so there were desperate parents there paying for people's places in line.

Not all stores are 24/7 and mine just went 24/7 last week because the crime rate is so high and almost every thin is shut in glass boxes for security reasons.

Well, okay. Thanks for the confirmation. I'll still probably stop by Saturday evening, holding out hope that the lack of Holiday shopping season traffic will lighten up the demand for walk-in purchases. spot on this is how I got my wii too.
